Yes my cat is fixed. Forgot to mention that. I do not want to get rid of her. Animals are like kids, you get them and they are your family. We had a dog for 12 years and had to put her down, so I know all about responsibility. She does not like to be picked up and cuddled either and I give her lots of attention when she lets me. Any other suggestions??

Some cats are notorious for being anti-social... I don't get how that "so I know all about responsibility" part factors in here... rabbits can be the same way, though.

First, how long have you had this cat? It may take time for a new cat to adjust to a new home. Cats are another category of pet. They do things when THEY want to. All cats have different personalities. Slow down and just observe her behaviors.Does she like to lay in the sun to relax...let her, but gently Stroke. and I mean STROKE her gently.then stop. Soon when you come to stroke her she will be looking forward to it. Does she like play toys? Buy her one, gently try to play with it in front of her. If her ears come foreword and she watches everything, you have a hit! If her ears go back-STOP and try later. Purring cat is what you want. Cats are slower, more gentle, so go slow. You might find yourself relaxing while watching her play. This is a good time to talk to her.Cats love the sound of a gentle human voice! Please, don't overwhelm her with new sensations her first week.Let her pick HER safe spot-where she can feel safe-and when she is in that spot, DON'T TOUCH..Just speak softly and reassuringly to her.
Lots of books on cat training in Library.--Gently Love Cats and they"ll Love you back...Start picking her up after she is comfortable with you.Cats are LADIES! And gentlemen....

one of my cats is like that, the other is very sweet. I think its the particualr animals personality. In my experience, female cats are often much more bratty than males.

My stupid female cat hates being picked up and two years after I got my dog is still crabby. She does what she wants when she wants. Shes about 7 or so. She was sweet as a kitten, and just got grumpy as she grew up.

sorry. you are probably stuck!

I know what you mean. I love my cats. They are part of my family. It could be she may have diahria or constipation. Has she injured herself? Feel her stomach and legs for any stiff, hard, or lumpy parts. She may also have bladder infection. Is she old? If so, it could just be old age, bones and muscles getting weak. If it continues more than three days I'd definetly take her to the vet. Good luck!!

Put out a bowl of dry cat food for her to eat on her own time, maybe even as a treat put a little tuna or clams in it once and a while.

cats are nocturnal and playful, so, you will therefore hear noise at night. it's the nature of the beast. my cat likes to steal plastic bottle caps and play soccer all night in the bathtub and when he gets bored with that he will carry the cap to the wood stairs and roll it down. then he flies down the stairs, picks the cap up in his mouth and goes back to the top to start all over again. took me a couple months to get used to that so i could sleep through the night.

Does she have lots of cat toys and scratching posts? Even if she doesn't regularly play with the toys you playing with them stimulates her mind and relives her tension, then she'll most likely want to cuddle.

Just ignore her she will come around when SHE wants something. Try letting her bowl go empty and see how she acts.
