That sounds like a nice reception to me. i would bet you could rent a facility for $300-$6000/evening and that would still leave room to cater a dinner w/open bar for $21 on up per head. It also depends on what area of the country you are wanting. Give me more details and I may be able to give you more specific info.

I live in Texas and I did a whole wedding & reception for about $3000. But I understand that stuff is alot cheaper here than in California or NY. Here are some tips that you take or leave that will help you with planning a wedding on a budget. You can always have your wedding during the week. Its more expensive to book things on Friday & Saturdays. Go online to Oriental Trading to get invitations & other stuff. Its nice stuff that comes in bulk so its cheaper. Do a buffet style dinner or lunch & dont have an open bar. Also you dont have to do roses as your flowers. There are alot more choices that are just as pretty & cheaper. Another option is to rent your dress & tux instead of buying them. I hope this helps! Congratulations & Good Luck :)

My daughter just got married in Nov of 2006 and we did her wedding with about 150 people attending and a wedding party of 18 people total for right around 10,000. Go to a bridal warehouse to find a dress they are nice and less expensive. You can get someone to alter it to you liking. Try and have someone in your family make all of your flowers big budget cost because you can go to a store and buy large bunches of silk flowers at a cheaper cost. Have family members make a dish for the food at the dinner after the wedding if you are having one. We also found that buy shopping online we were able to purchase alot of the things we needed for the wedding and reception and dance at a much cheaper price than a store. Be sure to spend money on the photographer ours was 2000 but that is really all you have to look at when the day is over. Remember that you don't have to go platinum to have a beautiful day. The little special touches are what count. Try finding a place for the reception that doesn't charge much ours was free cause it was on a Friday night and the club we used had nothing scheduled. Ask around and you may be able to find places to accomidate a tight budget. If you hire a dj instead of a band you will many times get a great one much cheaper than a live band and they usually work very well with their clients. For the decorations at our receptions we swagged the wedding color christmas light across the ceiling with streamers filling the bare spaces. We used a trellis decorated with atrifical greenery and white christmas lights behind the cake table. Helium colored balloons really help fill in empty spaces. Talk to a wedding retail store for suggestions. for the tables mirrors with candles and confetti work great around any centerpiece you choose or make. Best of luck to you and remember it is your day the only two people you have to please is you and your new spouse

I agree with nina and the lady above her. I recently got married and my wedding cost me about $3600. We were going to have it at our house but the weather had been bad. So we found a place where there was a chapel and reception area on site. I did my own invitations, wedding programs, favors, wedding party bouquets, boutinniers, and corsages. I even purchased some champagne flutes and dressed them up with my wedding colors. We ordered our wedding rings online. They are made of titanium. So yes you can do a wedding for that much. But also find out what kind of talent pool you have. Do you have a friend or relative who is a photographer or videographer, or if you have a relative with a large home with a big back yard. Or better yet go to your local college and find a photography student judging their work first and pay them to photograph your wedding. The money that is not spent can go toward a house. And it is not tacky to ask people to contribute to a honeymoon fund. Have fun, congrats on your wedding and communication and great sex is the key. HA! HA!

I'm having a very nice wedding and reception for $3000. It all depends on location and vendors. Check with local hotels and see if they offer reception packages (they do a lot of decorating so that will save money there). Get married at a church or an outdoor location. Do your research.

For my wedding: 75 people. Getting married and reception at same place.. room rental: $350, Officiant: $50, Marriage License: $67, Flowers (bridal bouquet, maid of honor bouquet, 7 boutineres, 5 coursages, 2 altar flowers): $350, Cake: $150, Food (Hor dourves): $510, DJ (a friend of ours): $425 for 6 hours, Photograher: Free (a friend of ours), my dress and accesories: $540 (dress was on sale), Ring bearers and daughters dress: $100, attendents gifts: $50 and the rest for decorations and extras. I had two months to plan and pay for wedding. I did a lot of research by going to dofferent places and getting price quotes before making up my mind.

Good Luck!

I am co-owners at a banquet hall. Now obviously the markets vary a lot from city to city, but it all depends on the following:
- how many guests you invite
- the menu you want
- day of the week and month of the year, since demand in dates are always important in booking a hall...i.e., Saturdays are the most expensive, Summer and Autumn are more expensive than Winter, and somtimes Spring before Easter etc.

Then you got all the extras like:
flowers, limos, the dress, tuxedos, dj or band, cards, invitations, linens, photography and video, gifts/boumbaniers, and so on and so on.

So here's what you do...average upper end menu for a wedding at an A-list banquet or catering hall will cost you minimum $75 - $100 per person, in the average market. Add another $2000 to $5000 for the extras, at least, and you have a typical 50 - 75 guest wedding - at around $10,000 to $15,000.

Go up to 150 to 200 people, you're looking at at least $20,000

My wedding last year cost about $6000. If I had to do it again, I could easily have cut $3000 and people would have still loved it. We had a morning wedding. The church was virtually free. A family friend designed the arrangements/bouquets, so that was only about $300 for the materials. A classmate did the pictures for $900. She was there for 7 hours and took about 500 pictures. I have them all on a CD, so I can print as many as I want whenever I want. The dress was $550 and the tux was $100. We had about 80 people to a brunch. There was no alcohol. That was $2500. Afterwards we invited everyone back to his parents house for snacks/cookies/cake/etc. Other friends who hadn't been invited to the brunch showed up to this too. If I had to do it all again I'd just have gone with the cake and punch bash at his parent's house. Everyone was happy, socializing, dancing, etc. We supplied beer/wine, but lots of people brought their own too, so it didn't cost us much there. (We didn't ask them to bring anything, they just did.) You don't have to have the sit down dinner that costs $100/person. People will be happy if you are happy. It is all mostly a big party after all. I recommend the cake and punch routine to everyone who asks me now. You need money for other things, not wining and dining people who are supposed to be your closest family and friends. Just have fun.

Good Heavens !
We had 100 people at my daughters wedding, full course meal, nice dress, rooms for some of the guests and the whole business cost 3500.
My hubby and I got married at home for 750 in 2003.
Guess what, we're still married, big money wedding or not...
Gracious.. if it's your money.. save it.. if it's your Dad's, ask if you can have what you save on the wedding towards a down payment on a house, or a fabulous honeymoon.
A beautiful wedding is just one day. You won't remember most of it... the guests will not judge you for your style of wedding if they are your friends, and to be honest, most would probably rather be at a small casual wedding than a big stuffy one.

For $10,000 you can have an exceptionally nice wedding and reception - just don't think swan ice sculptures and releasing doves and you can do just about anything else. My budget for my wedding is $6,000 - doesn't sound like much, but I've seen people have beautiful weddings using much less! Good luck.
