I am wanting to get a pomapoo puppy. They are really cute and my vet said they are known to have the best of poodles (non shedding) and pomeranians (personallity and loyalty). I want to know what we will need to bring him home? What is the average time it takes to get a puppy housetrained? If we have the puppy neutered at 6 months will that prevent him from marking and help with potty training? Also, about how long will it take for the puppy to get used to our routine and its new home? Also we have an inside cat and my husband has to labs outside. We had our labs neutered and they do not mark. Also, has anyone gotten a puppy that already has a slightly jealous cat? I just wanted some advice on how she will do with a new dog.

We adopted our labs at 7 weeks old from our local humane society. Our cat was also an orphan that we had to bottle feed as a kitten. So we are not apposed to that idea. Our labs are not indoors unless the weather is bad because they hate coming inside. They cry at the door the entire time. We got them to be house dogs but they only stayed inside for a little while because they wanted outside constantly. Our cat did tolerate them as puppies but she was a kitten at the time. Now she is almost three years old. I do babysit my moms dog (a boston terrior) and our cat does ok but she was a baby when my moms dog was a baby so they have known each other for almost three years.
Plus I think my cat knows that my moms dog isn't there to stay.

It usually takes a long time to house train a puppy. That is probably the longest training you'll do. Even if he is neutured he will mark if he is a type of dog that always marks or if she thinks he's the alpha dogs. Neutering him early won't change the marking. If you have a jealous cat then i would keep them away from you're dog when u bring them home because my cat scratched my new puppy in the face when i brought him home. If you get the dog young he will get used to your schedule within weeks, because it will be the only thing he knows, unless he spent a very long time at his first home. Good luck and have fun with your new puppy.

Well to start with being a mixed breed there is no guarantee that your pup won't shed. But being so small even if it does it shouldn't be a huge problem.

You should have a bed, crate, toys, feeding dishes, harness, leash, id tag, brush, nail clippers, styptic powder if you will be clipping it's nails yourself, and a vet visit scheduled for it's first puppy check. You should also be looking into how you will train your pup. Even little dogs benefit greatly from basic obedience training. You could investigate NILF (nothing in life is free) or Clicker training.

House training just depends on the puppy. Some take weeks, others months.

Neutering early will help to curb marking.

Why are the labs outside? It would be nice if they could also be indoors some of the time... At least at night to sleep, no?

Yes puppies are really cute. The amount of work to housetrain and get through the first year is comparable to taking care of a baby. Have you tried looking for the same type dog in your local shelters or newspaper? Not only is the dog usually already altered but you are saving an unwanted pet. If your cat tolerates your other dogs, she will probably get used to a new one.

poodle do shed they shed in to there own coat and have to be brush daily and groomed every 6 to 8 weeks. i hope you are not paying very much for the mixed breed puppy the amount of time to house break depends on the puppy. my shelties have nevered marked in the house and they were not neutered. i does not take very long fro the puppy to understand your routine. i would be very careful with the little puppy and the cat. i would not leave them alone together any time right now Please get her a crate to sleep in at night and when you can not watch her.

Don't buy a mutt from a back yard breeder trying to convince you he's selling a rare designer dog. Save a dog from the pound instead.
