My kitty is doing this, and I don't know if it is a psychological reason or if she's just doing it because or if she is sick. Is it one of these or is it another reason?

Sounds like fleas or a skin allergy. Animals can be allergic to similar things as humans like dust and pollen. Your cat could have developed a food allergy. I would start with using a monthly flea and tick treatment if you don't already use one. I recommend Frontline Plus. If she's already on a monthly topical talk to your vet about the possibility of allergies. Allergies in animal unfortunately only get worse with age. Make sure you speak with your veterinarian before starting any kind of treatment. Hope this helps.

If she is just pulling AT the fur, it could be fleas or allergies. Check her fur and skin for flea dirt. Make sure she is getting her flea medication. If she is pulling it OUT, if could be neurological. Take her to a vet and get her diagnosed.

Its the equivalent of you taking a shower or brushing your hair. Cats don't have fingers so they can't pick at stuff caught in their hair like you and me. They rely on their mouth, thats partly why their tongues are so rough like sand paper. Its good for gripping things like dirt or clumps of hair. If you brush your cat more often it won't do this as much.

if you really look at her, you'll see she's either scratching herself with her teeth, trying to get a flea, or untangle a knot in her fur. Cats are silly and do silly things. She's OK, now go give her a treat!

They might have allergies or dry skin. My sister's cat was doing that, so the vet has him taking pills until he feels better. It might be really irritating to your cat, so you might want to take it to the doctor.
