i have the same problem and found out after using ear drops that I was grinding my teeth at night. This causes ache and it seems like your ear is infected and hurting..ask dentist to check out if you are grinding your teeth (he can see the damange) as you might have to wear a dental guard at night...

It could be swimmers ear syndrome, In that case try boiling your ear out with some Peroxide, then putting a cotton ball in your ear for a little bit until you can go to either the pharmacist or to the doctor. If you decide to go to the pharmacist I would suggest going in the afternoons if it is on a sunday because Most pharmacies open at noon on that day. Ask your pharmacist what is best for an earache like you have and then buy it, Also you may want to buy a little medicine dropper so that you can apply the medicines to your ear yourself much easier that way if no one is around you when you need to apply the medicine. I do hope that your ear starts feeling much better,.I know I have trouble with mine from time to time and I have tried what I am suggesting you to do, Good luck on feeling better. Oh yeah and til you get to see your doctor i would strongly suggest that you put no more water in it.

A warm iron and a towel can help.
If you have an ear infection, you will have to see a doctor in order to get medication to relieve the pain. Go to an urgent care center and be done with it.
Some people do have tubes put in even as adults. You might be up for another set.

Pain can be referred from places other than the head. This deals with headaches but the principle works for all kinds of pain.
Muscles get knots called trigger points. These make the muscles tight causing them to press on nerves and other thing.
#1 The first thing is to take a couple swigs of molasses or eat a couple of bananas. They contain magnisium and potassium both of which muscles need.
#2 WATER she should be drinking 1/2 gallon minimum. The head of neurology at UCDavis likens a body running low on water to a car running low on oil (the engine can seize).
Get a good (deep tissue) massage (to loosen the trigger points) on the back, shoulders and neck. Make sure to press up at the base of the skull where it meets the spine.
You rub or lightly scratch everywhere on your head. You will hit spots that are tender these are trigger points. The idea is to rub across them 6-12 times per session up to six times per day until they go away.
For more information on trigger points read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.

I used warmth for mine...
just a gel pack put in the microwave and then wrapped in a soft towel... and I would lie down with my sore ear on the towel and the heat spread through and helped ease the pain.. (you could try a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel if you don't have a gel pack)

but please have your ear checked too..
just incase you have an infection ....
hope you are feeling better very soon...

Cant help with the long term pain im afraid. Try pain killers tonight. I used to know an old man who as a navy diver in WW2 ruptured both his ear drums. Although he was as deaf as a post he could smoke a cigarette and blow smoke through his ears!!!!
