Well there are a few tricks but in the end you wont have the respect of a spit shine. A spit shine gives the best shine when done right! I will tell you a trick or two first.

First you can take a tin of kiwi and a lighter and put the flame to the kiwi until it melts it a bit and than take the soft kiwi and rub it into your boot. It will shine up a litter faster and soak into the leather a lot easier.

Second you can but boot polish. Hopefully you can't use the stuff because its flat out cheating and it will crack your boots. But if you have to than you have to ya know?!

Ok, now to the spit shine. You don't have to use spit but I don't know why but a good slimey spit is like magic! You can use water as well if you are a little faint to heart! I think the key to getting a good shine no matter what is going to be the cloth that you use. There are rags made specifically for shining boots but a standard issue t-shirt works just fine, if not better.

To start, apply the kiwi on your entire boot and than brush it all in until you get your basic brush shine all over. Now, get ready to give your toe and heel some love. Apply some kiwi in a small circular motion to your toe. "Spitting" on the work area frequently to get the kiwi to soak in and bring out the shine. One application can do it for you, however it may take some time. I have shined a boot for 20 minutes each toe and hill.. maybe longer. Just small circular motions applying moisture as you go. Once you start seeing that shine keep it up and afterwards it will be like a mirror.

The good thing is that once you got a good shine, it will take you a few minutes to get that shine right back. After I got a high shine on my boots I would just add a small amount of kiwi and brush shined the toe and heel and that high shine would be right back. I would guess I gave a good spit shine once every 3 or 4 months.

Everyone knows what a spit shine looks like compared to everything else. So take the time to do it and reap the benifits!

Good luck!

U need shoe shine, a smooth rag, and water. First put a light layer of shoe shine on the boots and let it sit and dry. Then wet the rag just a little and buff the boots out like your waxing a car circular motion. To get them real shiny do 2 or 3 coats.

I had this old trick when I was in military service. I put the paste on the boots and then let it dry, then I would get a cigerette lighter and melted the polish and then buffed it. Forget the tie I wasn't in air cadets I was in the Navy.

There is no fast and easy way to spit shine boots. you need to melt the wax into the boot and then use a cottenball and water to bring up the shine. It can take an hour or more to get a good shine.
