Have average Indian no self pride.?

Question

Taj Mahal is a place that every foreigner wants to see when he or she visits India. When he visits area surrounding Taj he sees a different world. Borcken roads, central channel, buffaloes roaming every where, beggers, flowing sewage etc. Have Indians lost their self pride, can't they decorate 1 square km area around their national monuments. They even dont think what impression the foreign tourists will have for their nation. Have Indians lost their self pride.

India is not a poor country any more. That is the point.Its not about poverty, not about money, slums, etc etc.
I am not offending Indians. I am asking simple Q even.
Even the poorest person decorates his drawing room where the visitors arive. Then why with so many resources Indians still fail to make a good impression.

Indians also include Indian polititians and govt. officials.

Your intentions are good but the way you posted the question can irritate others. Why only 1 sq km of Taj mahal alone?. Why not the entire nation?. An avaerage Indian is too weak to fight against the politicians and has no money to bribe the officials.

Never been to India. On my income, I'll probably never leave the states. What has self-pride got to do with the way a city looks. You don't like it? Go clean it up!

Hey, maybe the people are busy trying to make ends meet and making a living. Maybe they're not all so rich they can just lollygag around (like tourists) and go make sure every corner is pristine enough to your liking.

You want a clean Taj? Come to San Antonio... we've got a nice replica at Randolph AFB... Lots of self-pride here, too... and LOTS - and I mean LOTS, of dirty surrounding streets. The people are nice, though... most of 'em... I suspect it's the same in India.

Yes every Indian have self pride.
If you think any nation has got enough money then ask them to arrange breakfast to all Indians for 3 days( which India does very easily and all Indians are now developing themselves very proudly ) then you will understand what India is all about.
I am sure you will forget all those notion and appreciate Indian Government till your last breath.
Taj is also one of our Public property and national monument.

We don't discriminate human kind and never write any thing like "Whites only" in any of our area other then secured and private properties.
Even if Indian roads are not ok nobody has to lock himself inside house in general like America nobody know if you forgot to lock your doors in new york you will be robbed and if walk after sunset you may be killed for just $10.

Wth due respect to you self pride you call it phrase or question or expression is with every human of this earth of any religion,class or country.What you have mentioned is the management around the historical places, well you are right in your mind, what you have asked a question.But one thing you should remember as to when the TAJMAHAL was built none of resident of that period were allowed to go near to that place nor there was any residential areas. But after the indipendence, people got the liberty and used the free and open land for whatever reason they thought best occupied and used it.It is only management offcoarse is not perfect.

If you're looking for poverty......... you'll notice all the slums and worst neighborhoods are usually right next to the nicest university campuses. Or Downtown, right in the midst of all our great sky-scrapers...etc.

And thats here in the United States.

Imagine what its like in other countries?

Besides, what you see as "broken roads, central channel, buffaloes roaming everywhere" is what a common Indian is gonna see as a normal road, normal water, and DINNER....

but anyways, countries like that don't have all these fancy roads and stuff.

They also don't have bureaucrats beating down doors trying to strangle more money out of the common folk to conform them into social reform programs..

Its a more honest way of living.

Survival of the Fittest.

The Indians haven't lost thier pride.

They just don't place it all on LOOKS.

India is a beautiful nation and its developing
no country is perfect and dont tell me you dont have slums and shanty dirty neighborhoods in American or any cities around the world
goto any city in the world belonging to a develop or underdevelop nation and i can gaurantee you u wil find slums and really horrible neighborhood
and saying Indians have lost their pride Excuse me but India is a nuclear power, India's economy is amongnst the fastest in the world, India produces most number of MBA's Enggs and Doctors
India is 60 yr old democracy and tell me how many countries can achieve the succes that India has achieved in 60 yrs of its independance

I dont know about you but this all happens because all of indian governmet control over its people Now look at Hong Kong They are The richest place ever why they have very little government control and they are open to new ideas all the time. when In India there are a lot of ideas but no one uses them so Indians go to other countries that listen to their ideas and make money so as I say again

Every community has their own ideas of decorating their place of living. Cannibals have bones around them, tribals have animal skin, scientists have their tools and other li'l gizmos, I have some broken bows and arrows and some fishes and frogs, my neighbor has his dogs, Taj Mahal has its surrounding decoration, Mount Kailash likes to be in the snow most of the time.

What is your idea of decoration?

You can tell those foreigners to go where they want if they don't like the Taj Mahal.

I think they have more than their share of Inner Peace. We in the US could sure learn a lot from them. They are growing by leaps and bounds, intellectually. What you call "Self Pride" is not lost when the wallet goes empty. There are problems in every state of affairs. But the blessings may outnumber them, and some people would never notice.

Many of them may probably prefer to relate their origin in some foreign land. Such people had no pride in Indian people and did evrything to downgrade them at every step. They can violate all moral and ethical values for the sake of their sinful instincts. General public had seen a number of bad characters and characterless rapists who did never figure in history books for their sinful acts becouse of their influential social status. Such people were ever ready to negotiate against the general public and against the nation. Majority of people have nothing to feel proud at. Good sounding meaningless mantras chanted here and there and some symbols of exploitation and oppression are of no real pride for the illiterate suffering millions. Every bad thing is becouse of the misdeeds of those who seek pride in their unestablished foreign origin.

Add.

'Indians are culturally and morally superior than American.................' .........when one closes eyes to exhibition of sex related heinous crimes committed against the gentle citizens in most of areas. Americans might be doing it all in open with mutual consent, not like those who command prestigous social status and force others to call them noble and spiritual even after commiting rapes, murders, intimidation, wrongful acquisition of land and property and a number of gross violations of rules and other's rights and human dignity
throughout their whole life. Such devils seems to dwell nowhere except..... People have enough reason to feel proud even after losing all pride in their own life.
