Large hardware stores like Home Depot and Lowe's often have classes for free. Just contact them. They also have good prices on wallpaper.

I have wallpapered for 40 year and find it much easier than painting.

Bathrooms and kitchens are not a problem. I just redid my kitchen before Christmas.

You want vinyl finished paper for those rooms and use prepared paste. I will say if you have big open walls it is much easier than when you have a lot of things to paper around. Should you decide to wallpaper, for the first time choose a plain or a stripe. Designs require matching. It is much more challenging.

Oops. I just saw you think you have Formica walls. I am not sure you could wallpaper over Formica or paint it for that matter.

You need to be certain what your walls are first.

You shouldn't really wallpaper your bathroom, nor the kitchen. They are areas where steam could cause a real problem and wallpaper will start peeling of your walls or get mouldy. And it is not the cheapest and easiest way, either. If I were you I would just use some glossy paint you can easily clean, or wall tiles, but that would cost you more and take you much longer.

in our area, Loews gives great classes on all kinds of home projects, has literature available, and, of course, the paper and supplies as well. Good luck with the wall paper.....I'd rather take a good beating then have to wall paper. Give me a paint brush any day!! By the way, Lowes can also teach you how to do lots of different painting techniques (sponging, rag rolling, etc.) that look like wall paper, are easier, less frustrating, and doesn't peel off of your walls!!!
