Did it help?

I had really sever post-partum depression after my son was born. I took Zoloft for 4 months and then weened off. Zoloft really helped, but I don't want to take it unless my depression is more sever. Right now it just seems I have a constant case of the blahs, no energy, and most things aren't as fun as they used to be. Someone recommended trying Omega fatty acid and B-Complex supplements to help. I've never tried "alternative medicine" or herbal remedies before. Do they really help? Or do they just seem to work because of a "placebo effect"?

I've been off Zoloft for over a year now. I've tried other things like jogging everyday, eating healthy, getting out in the sun, etc. I'm a stay at home Mom with a toddler, and my husband is gone a lot. I try to get out and do stuff with other Moms, and do stuff with friends, but I still just feel kinda empty. I just want a little boost, and I figured that a supplement that is naturally occuring in foods would be the least drastic thing to take.

Don't forget to supplement with adrenal support vitamins and magnesium. St. Johns Wort can be quite effective for mild depression too. My depression and anxiety were severe, so I ended up on regular meds. Try what you're doing first. Anti-depressants should be a last resort. If you find you need one with the least amount of side effects, I would suggest a low dose of Lexapro like 5mg or 10 mg.

B complex is a natural calmer. You use this when you need to calm yourself down or are over anxious about something like starting a new job. If you hate your job and keeping getting upset over every little thing taking B complex will help you cope by calming your nerves down.

It sounds like you are more bored than anything else. Try to lift your spirits by doing something you enjoy doing. Don't let everything get you down. You are in control of the way you react and process things that happen in your life.

If this a daily occurrence you may want to get your doctors opinion.

I really suggest you find enjoyable activities to relieve depression. If your system starts to rely on the pills then its almost like a drug addiction! My father has a severe case of bypolarism and he did the pills but then he became reliant on them and no he stopped them and does things he enjoys to relieve depression.
