1. Put a request on "Craigslist" on line for your area.
2. Check with local church or religious organizations.
3. Put up flyers in local grocery or convenience stores that you are looking for a free refigerator in decent condition.
4. Take out an add in the paper offering to trade a day of your labor for a refrigerator.
5. Go a rent-to-own store and see if you can get one that way.
6. Go to the local used appliance store and tell him you will work for him for a day to get a free fridge.

Freecycle on Yahoo is probably the cheapest and literally free way to try. I see messages from them a lot saying they have an old fridge in the garage they need to get rid of. But you have to pick it up yourself.

Or craigslist.com. We got rid of our old refrigerator that way and only asked $80 for it.

You could try looking at garage sale ads in the paper, or even put an ad in asking for a used fridge. If you live near a college, put flyers up on the board seeing if anyone want to get rid of their dorm fridge. Students are always hurting for money and want to give up the fridge for party money. And it gives you something to get by with until a real fridge is affordable.

You could try churches and community agencies too, like Red Cross or the Salvation Army.

Best wishes, hon.

If it needs to be free, go to the following link for Freecycle. Everything is free, but you have to haul it away.

If you can't wait to get one, I would suggest you look under "appliances" in the phone book and find one of the places that refurbishes large appliances and resells them. Be careful, though, about making sure it comes with a warranty. Some of these places can be unscrupulous.
Good luck!

um.. i dont think anywhere just donates refridgerators. i think you have to actually buy one, but if you cant afford one, i think you should get a cheaper apartment or find an apartment that has one included. sears and best buy are two places where you can BUY one. good luck

Check with stores like Goodwill or the Salvation Army and check with your city hall to see if they collect used appliances.

Look in the used ads. Many times people get rid of one that still works fine but they are remodeling.

Freecycle. It is an Internet website composed of people giving away items that they don't need. Posters are both those looking to give things away and those looking for things.
