Dear friend,
You have made me think for a while......
You say that Religion teaches us Love & Peace. Right. How do they say what is LOVE if they don't say what is HATRED. Similarly you cant tell someone what is peace without telling them what cruelty is.
So, to say something is GOOD, it should have a comparison with something BAD.
In short, there can be no GOOD, if there is nothing BAD in this world.
So the religion teaches us both. The Good and the Bad.
Good people (very few in number) take the good teachings and the majority get attracted to the bad things.

People who distort love and peace by turning it into hate and war are to blame. People in any country can and have used many different ways - through religion, media, government etc.
If one truly believe that your Creator teaches love and peace, then how can you believe that hate and cruelty is EVER justified under any circumstance?
It's like a test to see who truly believes. What is your faith REALLY made of?
If you think that hate and cruelty is justified in certain situations, however extreme, then you are saying that your Creator condones and approves of that sort of behavior.

The root of most hate and cruelty is FEAR and the development of religion was started because people are AFRAID of death, of illness, of lack of money or love, and most of all...of losing control over the things they don't understand.
People cling to unstable and inaccurate religious teaching because they want to find hope for everlasting life through either reincarnation or "heaven" of some sort. They turn to religion because they are afraid of things they can not understand and rather than seeking understanding and overcoming fear through knowledge, seek a lazy faith based way out of their fearful dilemma.
Because people are so afraid, they are quick to fight, ridicule, insult, steal, and kill the things they are afraid of. In my opinion, the root of all evil is not money as its been said but instead, the root of all evil is FEAR and FEAR is what has created so many unbelievably bazaar religions who constantly fight among themselves. (Fear that maybe MY religion isn't the best.)
We are hateful and cruel because we are afraid. The real question could be..."Who teaches us to be so afraid?" Our parents, our teachers, our employers, our religion? Why are we taught to be so afraid?

All religions tend to teach love and equality between people. People are those who pervert their religions’ teachings and spread hatred and cruelty...

Hatred & cruelty seems to be the natural state of mankind. If you doubt that, then you must have forgotten what childhood was like (or High School).
We are born selfish; he have to be taught how to love -- since love goes against our basic nature.

only our Ego and it is evident in all holy books that ego is not easily controlled by anyone. First one has to understand the meaning of religion and then there shall be no existence of hatred. But it is difficuilt to follow this message. All our earlier history is full of such events which created hatred and enmitty out of this ego only. So religion is not pursuaded in whole by us we only read or adopt it outerly
