If you are using win xp, you may not need the drivers to be installed in the first place. but if you want, you can install the drivers that came along with the camera or download the latest ones from the internet.
There is a fat chance that there's some sort of image editing software that came with your camera although i prefer (picasa.google.com) Picasa by google.
It's a free software and is awesome for normal picture management.
For more advanced features, you can use (www.gimp.org) Gimp which is also free or Photoshop Elements (for around $100)
You can share the pictures using (www.flickr.com) Flickr or any other site e.g Dropshots or upload pictures to your picasa-web account using picasa.
Connecting your camera is just the beginning, the possibilites after that are unlimited.
One important thing though - Don't forget to switch on your camera after connecting (assuming that your pc is already on) :D

Usually the camera comes with a Software for photo manipulation and album management. You need to run that application, which also will have an option to upload photographs. If your photographs are on the MMC Card, and if you use Win XP, it could be possible to directly transfer the photographs from your camera to your computer (however it is better to use the software provided by camera manufacturer)
