I was recently told by a friend that if you get your childs name and/or birthdate tattooed on your ring finger it symbolizes that they come first before any man/woman. (Say you get it on your ring finger on left hand - child comes first even though you may wear wedding ring, etc.)
I was wondering if their is any deep truth to this. I like the idea, but have never heard it before. And, if it is true, is it a paticular finger on a paticular hand?

Tattoos symbolize/mean whatever you want them to mean.

Tattoos can symbolize anything. It all depends on what you feel and think about when looking at it. If having your kids name on your finger reminds you to put them first, then by all means get that tattoo. Don't let anyone else tell you what something should mean to you.

i dont know about that i mean to me i guess it could mean that i mean kids are forever and the person you marry you could divorce for some reason so if it means that for you than get it and only you can say what something means but that would make sense about kids coming first and i think it would be the wedding finger but whos to say when we havent heard this one before so yeah even if your married kids come first marriage doesnt always end up in the til death do you part catergory it may end up in the he had a mistress catergory so good luck on figuring it out

I don't need a tattoo on my finger to symbolize this. My children come before me....before my wife.....before my parents.....that's genetic. You survive on THROUGH your children....I couldn't say if what your friend says is true or not (if it is I've never heard of it)

I think that is pretty stupid. Your left hand ring finger sybolizes the commitment for you and your spouse. If you want to tattoo your kids names on you that's fine...but you should show they are most important to you, you don't have to tattoo it to mean it.

I have never heard of that before but its true tattoos are personal in meaning what ever they mean to you wouldn't you rather do it because that's what it symbolizes for you or because some one else told you that's what it means??? think about it that way instead of saying thanks for nuttin......Good luck

i dont know about the myth or symbolism to the tat on the finger but it is dumb to me people always have to do some stupid **** to let everyone else around them know stuff, im not going off on the question asker but if your children come first why is there a need to broadcast it? secondly your children should come first in the role of children not in the role of life, your man should come first in the role of man and you should come first in the role of woman dont put stipulations and rules on life for if you get a man and he chooses his children first over you is he worth dealing with or better yet are you worth dealing with? hmmm that one kinda hurt huh? point in matter why would one need to broadcast to another what is most important to ones self ? if the sentiment of the feeling is genuine wouldnt it be self evident in action? those are just my thoughts
