If you use the internet to meet people, it's fine,
If you use the internet to "fall in love" with someone who lives 8000 miles away and you won't ever meet for 3 years, yet you consider yourself a "couple" and don't date or see other people, it's sick.

No it is not a sign of desperation. But it can be if you start living for the computer and you think your are in love and have never seen this person face to face or spent anytime with them besides just chatting over the net. My expereience I have met 3 guys in person that I had met on the internet. and their pictures were misleading. They looked real good on the internet 1 looked horrible in person the other 2 were decent looking but one of them was short as hell but said he was 6ft. They were nice and didnt try to abduct me though. So what I am trying to say is dont believe everything they tell you and always have it in your mind that they might not look like this in person. And always meet in a well populated area and maybe bring a friend always meet them in the day time. Dont believe them when they say they love you. Their is alot of nice and honest people looking for love you just need to be aware that their are always gonna be liars. You need to find a good standing website. beware of blackpeoplemeet.com pictures of guys are sometime models pictures posted, and some are just looking for a good time if you get my drift.

Its not a sign of desperation at all. Internet dating is great for people who are shy, very busy, live in rural areas, have kids, and really for many different types of people. My mom was on eharmony.com and met a great guy. Research the different sites before you select one or two. Eharmony.com is great, though a bit expensive. Mate1 is free for women, and is ok. Yahoo Personals is supposed to be good as well, as is Match.com. Good luck!

I went on a blind date with a guy I met on the internet, it was yesterday. It was OK, I don`t think it is a sign of desperation, but it sure does help shy people meet someone.

The only difference is that you have to determine the person you're speaking with is REAL over the net.
Pics with signs in them or video work well in these cases.
It's just as easy for a potential partner to lie in person as it is to lie on the net, so watch it there too.
Always meet in a public place to get to know each other better.
Other than that, dating is dating. It doesn't mean your desparate. It just means you like to date.

No.. its not a sign of depression. Many people do it. I have done it. I just wanted to see who i would meet and what might come out of it. I know people who have met the love of the lives on internet dating.

I didn't find my love of my life on there but i did meet some really great people who i now consider friends (we just didn't click). However i did meet (and had emails from) really wierd freaky people. So i say go for it and you never know. However remember to play it safe. You never know who is out there. Be wise

Good luck

I met my wife on the internet and we have been married for 4 years. You can find a good mate, but there is a lot of weeding through. Better than trying to find a partner who is a barfly.

I met my husband on line. We lived 3.4 miles away. I would have never met him if it was not for Match.com I found that if you are going out to meet people, like to a bar, you usually get disappointed. People have a tendency to lie about who they are, or are afraid to be really honest. On line, people who are serious about wanting to meet someone, write a profile about who they are and who they are looking for. It takes perseverance, and a lot of profiles to look through and read. But when you find someone interesting, and they find you interesting, you can finally talk on the phone, and then meet. Of course at a public place. Pictures are not a good example of what someone looks like though. You have to be open!!
I would recommend it highly!!
Gob Bless!

yes is a sign of desperatin!!! Pros are that you don't have to go around to look for a fast hook up sex...You can get the very next day...Cons that if you are in desperation and end up in a online dating then you devalued yourself and you become a loosers just like the others one in the same position...And most of all if you are not careful you can end up in the side or the road death...So decide what you really want...The bad or the good way?

I haven't done it, but why do people think it's such a big deal? I mean the Internet has opened us all up to a whole new world in which to meet people. What if your soul mate was in another state? You wouldn't meet him in the local bar, or grocery store, or library now would you???
