Every time I eat a salad for my lunch, I feel hypo-glycemic afterward. My salads are very nutritous, with plenty of protein (usually a couple of chicken breast strips, one sliced egg and a big spoonful of kidney beans) and not too much "bad stuff" (no cheese, ham, bacon) and of course plenty of veggies. I do use blue cheese dressing, but not a disgusting amount...I use it pretty sparingly. Any idea why I feel crummy after eating what should be a healthy meal? If this feeling doesn't stop, I'm switching to Big Macs. :)

By the way, I do realize that this kind of salad is not a "low calorie" meal, but it should be nutritionally sound. That's why I don't understand the shaky feeling after eating it.

Processing different foods requires different metabolic pathways. Meat for example is processed by the liver while carbohydrates take a different channel. What I think is happening is that you switched to a healthy diet recently and you have established expectations or certain sensations after eating and you are not getting them.

Patience is all you need. Stay with your improved diet.

Well, sometimes if I eat certain salads w/ blue cheese dressing or ham and I know it has salt in it I'll tend to fell weird all of a sudden. So it would be best for you to cut out the Blue Cheese(Yes It does taste good) to see how you would feel for a couple of weeks. It would also help if you can make your own salad dressings. So just cut out the ham and blue cheese and give it a couple of weeks. Oh Yeah, I love Big Macs myself but I can't eat them like I used too. I'll start to feel sluggish and grumpy. lol Try Kraft Foods website they have lots of nutritious meals and snacks. Anything from Salad to Lasagna

My only thought would be the dressing. I eat the same type of salad for lunch (plenty of protein) but I use oil and vinegar (extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Maybe you are allergic to something in the salad. Maybe you should just eat a big mac, screw the salad.

There is no carbohydrate as far as I can see try adding a piece of fruit, or some bread or something similar.

It is probably the gallon of salad dressing you are putting on it!
