I've been looking at rings, out of curiosity. I was wondering about what the measurements of diamonds typically are. That way I could compare them to my finger size and get an idea of what I like. I've been unable to find a guide online. Just a general idea would be helpful.

Like 1/2ct. - __ x __ in.
1 ct. - __ x __ in.
1.5 ct....etc...etc...etc...

This is PURE curiosity btw.

Thanks!

But it's still rough because if the cut wasn't as good... and the girth was little more... the diamond would be smaller in width.

A a million carat is a lot huge, particularly of that high quality. I definitely have a .fifty two carat and that i like it, no longer via dimensions(of direction a miles better one could be cool) yet via fact i like my husband and it became a present day from him. probable the main crucial present a guy ought to furnish a woman. One replace i might make is to get a miles better decrease grade. decrease is what makes the diamond sparkle, so i might choose for ideal or spectacular, reckoning on the grading enterprise. you should flow down slightly on length to get a extra ideal decrease, or you should choose for a VS2-SI1 that are nevertheless very solid clarities. Even going to an F or G would not make any seen distinction. I guess in case you chosen a .80-.ninety 5 carat, with VS2 clarity, and G color you will keep a solid volume of money, that should flow in the direction of an extremely superb set of bands. do no longer hassle approximately .seventy 5-a million.00 carat no longer being large adequate. it rather is. human beings those days prefer to push it to their absolute spending shrink as a replace of thinking approximately what they might do with the money they saved from downgrading slightly. one extra advice could be to get a around shape as a replace of heart. heart formed is in variety now, yet a around shape is undying and classic.

Go to blue nile www.bluenile.com

they have a guide there that shows a size diamond in relation to your finger and gives you the milameter size (not inches).

Aslo just a quick note: depending on how the diamond is cut (shallow or deep or standard) it can affect the surface size of a diamond and make it appear smaller or larger regardless of carat weight.

There is no standard measurement for a carat of diamond, coz it depends on the cut...
A diamond might be cut with a wide table and hence seem larger or it might be cut with a deeper cone and hence seem smaller...
Diamonds are a wide sea!

Well, you really can't give an answer to that; as there are dozens of shapes of diamonds and grades, not just only sizes and carats.

My almost-3/4 quarter carat ring is about .25 inches in diameter. I think a round full carat diamond would be a full quarter inch diameter.
