Yes, I was there, and stuck in New Orleans for 5 days after the storm.
This is a link to my blog on National Geographic's website. It will take you to a page with many blogs. Mine is titled: My Katrina Experience. It is (duh) about my experience during Hurricane Katrina. It is pretty long, but it may be worth your while to read.

Well i came home a day after the storm because my dad is a fireman so he was needed to work...... we had no power for 5 in a half weeks or any garbage pick up and we had no clue why......yes we had emotional times but what was not to think when you see homes riped to peices and cement slabs that once had a house on or a stair way to nothing..........
we got damn lucky to come home to a house i thought for sure our second story got riped of .
my neighbors had shingles missing and vinyle siding but we didnt flood...i live in gretna . if that barge would have hit our levvee harder we would have been lower ninth ward .....
i could not even imagine me coming home to nothing or a flooded home....all i know is my heart and soul goes to those people who lost everything ....i cant imagine me a 15 year old going threw that kind of tragic situation but there is babies and others going threw it ......
I LOVE NEW ORLEANS AND I WOULD NEVER LEAVE .......
KATRINA COULDNT STOP US NEW ORLEANS
GOD BLESS NOLA
THANK YOU GOD FOR A SECOND MARDI GRAS THAT WAS THE BEST SINCE KATRINA WE HAD LOTS OF TOURIST...

I was not actually there during the hurricane because I evacuated with my family, but I was living there at the time and went back a month later and then again in december. If that helps than you can email me and I can answer your questions.

This was crazy! we were sitting at home and i went to bed and my parents were wathing that news and my mom came into my room and told us that there was a hurricane but we didn't know how strong it was going to be. so we started to board up the house and all night i hears the wind and rain! they had announced for us to get to the highest peak of out house in case of flood damage...umm we were then evacuated to the NO superdome where i and my family were held of about a week! we had shortly heard that one of the levees broke and soon enough another one did! floofing out whole town!.. it smelled so bad and i never want to experience that again! but many people were evacuated on buses but my aunt came and got us! it was that worst and i was so damn happy to get out of there! many people were crying because of there loved ones that they couldnt find! and then when we were there we got water and this little girl named canisha came up to me and asked me if she can have my water and i felt so bad! i hated those conditions. it was the worst ever in my life! than about 4 weeks after! i moved to vegas! which is much better! but i still want to go back home where i belong!

I hope that my story helped you!
