Would your God want us to go against our instincts and make ourselves miserable to show our gratitude for him forcing life on us?

Well said.
Why would an omnipotent and omniscient being need worship anyway?
The fact is, religion is a scam. It plays upon the fears of the gullible in order to separate them from thier money. Remember that the single most important item in ANY church is the collection plate...

Well, why else would God create you, if not for worship? What does God get out of the deal?

He gave you life, and all that he asks for in return is a little expression of gratitude every now & then. He didn't give us life so that we could just ignore him, or curse at him. If you were God, then ask yourself what's the point of creating people just so that they can hate you?

Maybe another look at the word "Worship" might help:
The word Worship comes form the old English phrase "Worth ship" It's not a religious term but a term of respect. You actually "Worth-Ship" many things your wife, husband, dog etc. And if you put your highest 'worth' on God then you 'worth-ship' or 'worship' God. If you take the time and effort to get to know God, (and the truths about him are not always obvious.) You would place a great 'Worth' on him.

Found on the website www.MusingsAboutGod.com/words.htm
Also see the article there "The Truth About God", very different.

Please don't take offense. God would never force, but he is responsible for your instincts, that is if you want to believe he created you. You may be what St. Thomas Aquinas calls as one with "invicible ignorance". There is no convincing you. You may not have what some called the "God gene". It is that thing that most people have that gives the sense of "awe" at a beautiful landscap or seascape, or a feeling of spontaneous well being.

I agree. It kind of removes a lot of the meaning of life if it is just to worship God. I think he wants us to be so much more than that. Maybe that is why he doesn't reveal himself.

I love worshiping God It is truly a blessing and a pleasure to me. I am happy I have that. But worship is not about me, worship is for God. : )
