Don't blame yourself, It will take time to get over a loss of an animal especially when you are very close to it. I want you to view this beautiful video that i often look at, and you will know that your dog is in a good place now.
Trust mne you will cry when you view it its so beautiful.

RE:
Nobody knows what happens or where an animal goes after he/she dies, but its called closure, and to think that your loved one is going somewhere special makes it easier to deal with.

Everything happens for a reason...just remember that. Have you thought about getting a new puppy? That might make you feel better, just make sure that if you do get a new pet that they have NO access to the pool without supervision!

I wish i could give you this poem in person.
THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy sisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once moreinto the trusting eyes of your pet,so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then together you and your special pet cross the Rainbow Bridge......

Just want to say that it is very hard to get over. My dog was killed 3 yrs ago and I still cry often. She died the day before her 1st birthday and we were on vacation. I think she went into shock on the sugery table and I will always partly blame myself for not being there to let her know everything was going to be OK.

I am really sorry about your dog. It is definatly NOT your fault. You know that she had a happy good life with you. Before we got our dog he was about to be killed in the pound. He is now 17 years old, I am scared he will die.

Dont worry, i know it seems hard now, but as time goes by the pain will ease.

Mabye think about getting a puppy?
Best of wishes, Sorry!

Despite what the movie says all dogs don't go to heaven, come on realy...animals don't go to heaven, a lie won't make you feel any better.
With time you will feel better, but accidents happen, but you learned a wonderfull lesson that will never leave you so that future pets or otherwise might not meet this same ending. Take comfort in knowing that at least you learned a lesson.

Don't feel so bad, friend. He would die anyway. Do you think yourself so powerful that you can control the Destiny of a living being?
I felt same when I lost my dog. Time heals every wound. Maybe he's better off somewhere else.

yes, maybe pets will be with us in the new Kingdom, it is sad that dogs only live for 10 or so years, God must have had a reason for this. It is possible to feel better and it starts with prayer my friend.

That's a really sad story but it isn't your fault. You couldn't have known she would slip through the bars. And don't worry, all dogs go to heaven.

IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT, ALL DOGS ARE CARIOUS AND WANT TO CHECK NEW THINGS OUT. JUST THINK OF HER BEING IN A GOOD PLACE NOW. I'M SURE SHE HAD A GREAT PLACE WITH YOU BUT NOW SHE'S IN HEAVEN AND CAN EXPLORE EVERYTHING. I FEEL REALLY BAD FOR YOU AND YOUR DOG. I HAVE 2 GOLDEN RETRIEVERS AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO IF SOMETHING HAPPEN TO THEM. JUST DON'T BLAME YOURSELF I KNOW SHE WOULDN'T BLAME YOU EITHER IF SHE WAS STILL AROUND. I HOPE THIS HELPED AND HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON.
