I absolutely agree with you, teens for the most part are misunderstood people, they have a lot of pressure in this day and age to act a certain way, that must be so difficult to deal with,on top of that they have school to contend with.Yep there is good and bad in everyone, and its nothing to do with your age,my son isnt even a teen and is victimised daily, and no he isnt a bad kid,he is dyspraxic,he goes to a main stream school, and its not the teens that are the problem, its the teachers. So in answer to your question not all adults frown on teens,i certainly dont.Good luck with uni by the way.

It is true that we are criticized for a lot of the wrong things. But most of the criticism that is pointed at us is true. Well, not true for me, but probably for you.
Like the activity of text messaging, and treating the product called the computer, as a toy.
Yes, most teenagers today do not do drugs, kill people and cut school, but most do use the computer for the wrong reasons.
For example: I wanted a computer (A Desktop), after I had purchased a Camcorder (DCR-VX2100). I had the money for it, and my friends were pushing me towards the idea of purchasing a notebook with internet access. Now, a computer is a device used for programming, and non-linear media editing. But most teenagers take it as a toy, and a thing your supposed to stay on for hours "chatting" to others.
I am 14. We are criticized because of all the things we do, and we say we can't live without. my friends say they cannot live without their computer. I do not even know why they have computers. People should only have computer for business reasons, nothing else. I only use my Power Mac G5, and my Two HP Pavillions for the work of the post-production of my films for my business (YES, I HAVE A BUSINESS, AND IT MAKES MONEY!)
I am sure my friends do not use their computer to do what I do, so how is it that they cannot live without their computer. Truth is, they can, unless of course, they are doing something business-like with it, like me.
Another reason we are criticized: Because of all the things we have, and the way we act. Teenagers get everything: iPods, Computers, cameras, music, docking stations, and all that accessary crap for iPods and computers. All the teenagers want this stuff, because "They gotta have it". No they do not. The only items I own, are computers and a camcorder, and I use them much differently then other teenagers do.
Even thoguh teenagers have all this usless stuff, they still rebel, and yell at their parents. All they do is complain that "I don't have any privacy", or "Why don't you treat me like an adult" while most of them have all the privacy in the world because they have their own rooms.
I share a room with two others, and it is the smallest room in the house. I never complain about privacy, because what is there to hide. My parents didn;t need any "privacy" when they were little, so why do I need any?
It is true. All teenagers are criticized for being, well, teenagers. But there are a few out there who do no deserve the criticism.

Not all the teens, only those who are absolutely unruly.
You know I'm 14, but I do agree with this people.
The amount of teens who use drugs or have underage sex is too large. And you're being wrong saying that there's a low level of pregnant teens. Just keep looking at this category and you'll see that the questions like "I'm 13 and I'm pregnant" appear every day. If you love your boyfriend, so that you can't resist to sex, at least use protection. Or it will make him love you less? Unfortunately the majority of teens are so.

I think you should use spell check before you type in a question. BECAUSE you asked a lot of valid questions and a lot of people don't want to have to figure out what it is that you're saying!
I try not to judge teens like you described. I have teens of my own and I don't judge them. I think that a lot of teens have had it rough in one way or another and they are not mature enough to verbalize why they act the way they do.
Getting pregnant while being a teen is not a good or healthy choice for the parents or the baby but it happens and that's when families need to pull together.
I just think that if parents were more open to talking about things that seem off limits maybe teens would be able to accept themselves. It's hard being a teen I know, I do remember! Just do what's right for you and don't worry about how people think of you. I know that's easier said than done. But I think if you can master that then you have the upper hand. Good luck to you!!!

I know what you mean. Whenever I'm out with my friends or on my own, a lot of adults look at me like I'm going to steal something. Which I'm not!!!! I know there are some teens that are screwing up, but how can we learn if we don't try, I'm not talking about pre marital sex here.. That's just wrong.
Anyways, I hate the feeling of being watched. The other week I was at the bank and I couldn't even get money out, and I had ID. I'd forgotten my bank card and the teller was so RUDE TO me!!!
I'm blown away at how much to days adult population has no trust and respect for teens. Considering a lot of us are very mature and responsible. It's not fair for people to judge, particularly when at one point (a very long time ago) in their lives, they were a teenager. It just goes to show you that we stereotype all the time.
Don't judge a man before you've walked too moons in his moccasins.
It also makes me see that when you don't trust yourself, you have a hard time trusting others.
Thanks,
Karina

Unfortunately it's called stereotyping and it happens between any age
- (supposedly) all young children are out of control and have ADHD.
- (supposedly) all teens are sleeping about, pick on the defenless, can't speak english, can't read or write, have attitudes, are always on the theif and have ASBO's, or only have respect for people with ASBO's.
- (supposedly) all middle age people are lazy and are having children just so they won't have to keep a job and are letting their kids run riot.
- (supposeldy) all the elderly are moaning, narrow minded and stubborn people.
A large number of people ruin it for the rest but like I said it's stereotyping.
Things will never change.

Not all teens are bad!!!
we all know that!!
I have a 16 year old who is at a private school, and its costing us a minor fortune for him to FLUNK his gcse's..
He does bare minimum, and thinks the world owes him! he is a typical teen tho not a bad one.. Just LAZY!
You can love your bf's, without having sex at the drop of a hat, and there is absolutely NO NEED to get pregnant these days, as contraceptives are so freely available!
there will always be the teens who are unruly, but they are the ones who get the attention of the media, you wont get press attention for doing well in your exams!sadly!!
As long as you know who you are, then thats good.. try hard, do well, go to uni, and get a fab job..
go for it girl!
I hope your parents are proud of you!

ignorant people like to use classic stereotypes to group all teenagers as bad people. I think that if someone knows or has heard of a lot of teens being bad then they just assume that they are all bad. But that is the exact problem and ignorance that has started so many wars and bad things in the past. People need to get smart and stop grouping people.

I don't know, it made me really mad when I was a teen. I was a good teen so it wasn't fair to me. You just have to ignore it, there's nothing you can do about it. Walk out of the room, turn the station, turn the channel, or whatever the case may be. Just try to ignore. Adults are wrong way more times than they are right when it comes to the things they say about teens.
