The USA, beofre the "war on terror" spent about as much on military as the rest of the world combined spent on their thousand or so militaries.

That considered, What SHOULD we spend on military...TWICE as much as the rest of the world combined? Half as much? Are there better things to spend that money on? Will spending more get better results? Are there more strategic ways to achieve our "defense" goals?

Well, considering our national debt is nearing $9,000,000,000,000, how about spending just enough for deterrence of an attack? That would knock it down by about at least half. Use that money to save social security and educate the sheeple.

We are spending about half of what we need to be spending on the military. However we are spending it for the wrong things. We should quadruple our spending on the US Coast Guard, and Special Operations. If we have a problem with the leadership of a country for example Hugo Chavez then we just send a SPEC OPS unit to kill him quietly and leave the rest of the people alone!

Awwww, you poor thing, you can't read actual reports and combine that with actual revenue. The military is getting such a small % compared to how much politicians pocket. Look how these people live, they are getting WAY more $$ than the alloted salary that's reported and WAY more in kickbacks and lobbists...as a people we really need to have the IRS work for US and audit the real thieves of US tax dollars.
