Can a petechiae rash be caused by the ingredients in NyQuill (liquid, cold/flu) if you have never had an allergic reaction to any of those ingredients before?

I've never had any type of allergic reaction to medication before but wouldn't it be a different type of rash than a petechiae rash?

Thanks

Petechiae can be caused by many things. First you should do a glass slide test. press a clear piece of glass onto the rash and see if it blanches (turns white). If not see a doctor soon. Any drug allergy can mimic any other skin condition, so it is possible that this is a drug reaction, but it is also possible that it is RMSF (rocky mountain spotted fever), group A beta hemolytic strept, scarlet fever, or measles or something else. If you have symptoms enough to take Nyquil and a rash, the best advice that I could give you is to see a doctor as it is impossible to diagnose a skin condition or even an allergy over the internet.
Probably not too serious, but needs to be looked at!

Petechiae can be caused by many, many things. If the cause is unknown to you, have a doctor check it out.

Allergies or any trauma to the skin such as, inflammation, an infection, or a previous infection site that is healing are common minor causes that will go away eventually. This can take a few weeks or a few months depending on the severity of the trauma.

Other major causes are everything from cancer to low platlet counts in the blood. Thats why it is important to have a doctor check the rash out if it is spreading or you dont know what is causing it.
