That is an impossible question to answer, for one reason. We are all different with different personality types. Some personality types would do better, some would even thrive. Fundamentalism is a personality type. Have you ever noticed that fundamentalist Christians and fundamentalist Atheists have personalities that are almost identical. The beliefs may differ, but their dogmatism doesn't. They will cause problems no matter what.

My life without religion is wonderful. I don't know about anyone else, though. Some people need a fear of hell to be good people.

Probably a little better off. There wouldn't be any fighting about who has the right god, who is a better follower of their god, and who is entitled to what because they think they are god.
