Because it's awkward. Here you are, the new boyfriend, discovering your girlfriend - her favorite music, how she kisses, what movies she likes, etc. Then, here's this other guy who already knows all that, already has a bigger history than you do with her, AND is still friends. It's a big buzzkill.

The same reason why current girlfriends hate old girlfriends when the old GF are still frineds of the guy. It's distrespectful to mingle with lovers from the past when your suppose to be with your current mate.
Some people do this for power pleasure. They feel "Oh, look at my boyfriend/girlfriend get jealous. I have power over them, and a possible get together with my past". And some feel the need to play "the test" game by doing, "Oh so my boyfriend/girlfriend is jealous. That means he/she doesn't trust me, they're insecure. Which is a childish game since anyone in a relationship can do suspicious things that will actually create an insecurity in they're mate that was never there, and for what?

Because they are seen as a threat. Just think about it, your girlfriend used to fancy this guy - so she will have done all sorts of things with him and she might still fancy him or.. something like that.
Of course that's not saying we always still fancy our ex's, but we do think about them and so I guess that's why all the new boyfriends will hate the old ones. ESPECIALLY if they are friends with the girlfriend - more of a chance of something happening!

It's a competition thing. Guys don't thing like girls, the fact that I'm w/ you now not w/ him and I don't want him is not a good explanation for a guy. He wants you to cut off tides completely. You'll just have to decide is your old boyfriend worth you new boyfriend.

they all way hate the older boyfriend because they think that u and the older boyfriend is still missing around and the new boyfriend is jealous of the old boyfriend

Because once you've had your Dickens Cider, a relationship is never the same, there is always that bond. Therefore, even though the current boyfriend can have his Dickens Cider anytime he wants, its the fact that the other guy, at one time, had his Dickens Cider and or/possibly his Dickens Cider Bigmouth or his Dickens Cider Longneck.

Because the boyfriends might think that something might still be going on between them, since they used to go out, but I think it's better to stay friends with your ex.

Some men feel threatened by the prior relationship. This is somebody who you were involved with romantically and sometimes it is hard to separate those feelings even though it was in the past and you are simply friends.
