How small can I resize the dress? Not at all, I can't sew!

But a good seamstress can bring that thing down all the way to a size zero!

I know something about sewing and alterations, and resizing this large a wedding gown is almost impossible. Personally, it will never really look right. I think you should buy your own wedding gown, or if you want you could rent one, but to resize this, forget about it! Not a good idea. One suggestion if you cannot afford an expensive wedding gown, is to go to a bridal shop and look at their sale rack. You'd be surprised how many lovely gowns you could find.

yeah, i'd agree with the above....

you really couldnt do much more than an 18 or 16, because once you pass that, you begin to lose some of what the dress is about. each wedding dress is a piece of art, and that dress was made to be that particular size. resizing the dress takes away a lot of the total image.

The rule of thumb is a dress can be resized two sizes down and one size up (depending on the seam). However, some cleaver tricks and a good seamstress, and I guess you can do just about anything. Good luck.

You should go to a dress maker.
But um I think the resize limit is like 7 sizes

technically, you could resize it to any size, since there will be plenty of fabric. however, this will disort the basci shape of the dress if it has special seaming (like princess seams) and it won't look right. your best bet is to go no more than 2 at the very most 3 sizes smaller, unless of course you want to redesign it totally, and then you should be fine!

The rule of thumb is two sizes down, if you try to do anymore than that you run the risk of loosing the overall style of the dress, which is probably why you picked it in the first place.

I think beyond 4 sizes you will loose the integraty of the dress and the alteration cost may end up being more then just buying a new one.

from what i have been told 2 sizes is the rule down but if you have someone who is a very good sewer then it might be do able but i would think it would not look like the same dress if you have to cut away a lot of the detailing good luck!
