They don't care. Most guys you probably see are newly enlisted or recruiters or something. Most seasoned marines and soldiers for that matter tend to try and blend in a little bit. It's defiantely not a lack of pride but there comes a point where you will seperate "you" from what "you do" if that makes any sence.
I'm in the army and when I wear my class A's it is like your a celebrity of sorts. I don't mind it and I definately take it gracefully and proudly. I am a veteran of two foreign conflicts and have done good by our country. In the end I will just be me and so will they.
If you care to stare, stare with a smile on your face so that they know you respect and have admiration for their service.
Oh, I will give it to the marines... their dress uniforms are on the money. I look pretty damn good in my dress greens so it's all good no matter what!
Much love to all my brothers and sisters in unifrom!
God bless!

it really is because those 2 amenities has had a lot less transformations to their uniforms over an similar era of time than the different 2. i imagine the crackerjack uniforms of the army is extra iconic. perhaps by using being printed on 'cracker jacks' snack packing containers? Who is commonplace with why the US Marine uniform grew to develop into universal. Technically it should not be a reliable searching uniform. The blouse (blouse) frequently isn't an similar shade because the trousers (pants). And neither does the cover (hat). perhaps it really is because of this that makes it that a lot extra unique and 'distinguishable'. it really is the in effortless words uniform that comes with all the colors of the US Flag (pink, white and blue).

Probably not because I'm sure in they're mind they think everyone around them thinks very highly of them. As times change though, with more people turning against war and essentially the lifestyle of a soldier, I think this admiration will fade.
So as not to be misconstrued, this shift is due to the mishandling of Iraq by Bush though, not to the actual people wearing the uniform.

I like my uniform but I don't wear it out in public unless I absolutely have to. Not because I don't like the stares or anything, I just choose to look as blended in as possible.
***To the guy that said his Army uniform looks as good as the Marine uniform, I hope your joking. That green tarp you guys put on is disgusting. But hey, I got nothing but love for you guys.

They are probably newly minted Marines and are very proud of their uniform as they just went some hellish training to earn the right to wear it. I can't say I blame them.... I would too...

I never stare. Military men are a different breed of man. They are proud of their uniforms I imagine. But when I see them I seldom see faces....just uniforms. Marine, army, navy, coast guard...they all sort of melt together. And the Army uniform looks just as good as the Marine uniform.

I doubt it. They wear their uniform with incredible pride.
Just make sure to never refer to a Marine as a "soldier" even though they share organizational similarities to the Army.

Well, if the stares are from a pretty girl, they probably like it.
If the stares come from some old person, they are ambivalent.
If the stare comes from a gay guy, they are probably a little creeped out.

Since these Men are subject to horrible living conditions and being shot at for a living (all for your benefit) I doubt they are self conscious regarding how they look to you in public.
I have the utmost respect for anyone willing to put their lives on the line in order to protect and serve.
They are Semper Fi and they deserve our respect; so the next time you catch yourself staring at someone in uniform why not add a "thanks for your service" .

Why should it bother them? Does it bother cops, firemen, postmen, nurses, or anyone else that wears a uniform? As for evoking caution - nah, I ain't worried. My Army uniform looks as sharp as theirs does...
