I just bought Vista and installed it in my PC and after 5 days, it was jacked up because it won't play Flash games online. So I went back to XP but I asked myself "What should I do with Vista?" I don't want to sell it or throw it in the bin but I want to install it in a later time. If you were me, how many months (possibly days) before you install Vista?

I heard you should wait up to a year for Microsoft to get all the kinks out. I'm currently looking at a laptop with Vista but some people are swaying me to just go ahead and buy one with XP. My main reason for waiting is because of compatability issues with programs, the same kind you are having.

Before taking any decision, you should read the following
announcement:

IBM will not use Windows Vista - but will move to Linux desktops
(William Henning - Monday, March 6th, 2006)

IBM will switch to Linux desktops, in Germany, according to a
Linux Forum (presentation was made by their head of open
source and Linux sales, in Germany).

<
During a presentation on IBM's involvement with Open Source,
Andreas Pleschek, from Stuttgart, Germany, who heads
Open Source and Linux technical sales across North East
Europe, for IBM, made a very interesting statement...

"Andreas Pleschek (also) told that IBM has cancelled their
contract with Microsoft, as of October this year. That means
that IBM will NOT use Windows Vista for their desktops.
Beginning from July, IBM employees will start using IBM
Workplace, on their new, Red Hat-based platform. Not all at
once - some will keep using their present Windows versions,
for a while. But NONE will upgrade to Vista."

The question is: does this apply only to IBM Germany, or to IBM
worldwide?

If all of IBM switches to Linux desktops and OpenOffice... that
would be a very significant loss to Microsoft; not only in direct
licensing revenues, but also in speeding the adoption of Linux,
by other companies.>>

As you (probably) know, IBM was developing OS/2--a few years
ago, before they stopped the support for it--, as an alternative to
Windows. If they succeeded to move to Windows, I presume
that they will succeed to move to Linux, too.

If I'm not wrong, IBM's revenue is (at least) three times bigger
than the MICROSOFT's one. Whether we like it, or not, IBM
remains "the driving force" in the IT world.
If the Leader says... "Hasta la vista!", to Windows Vista, then
the rest of the world, sooner or later, will follow the Leader!

I must also mention that the European Union tends to favour
the Open Source mouvement. And the fact that Mr. W. Gates
will resign, in this summer, from the leadership of his own
company, it's not an encouraging sign, for choosing Vista.

In fact,
what is cheaper: to buy new PCs, able to run Vista, AND to buy
the new version of Office? Or to keep the present PCs, and just
install the (free) OpenOffice suite? You don't even have to switch
from Windows (XP), to Linux!

Therefore, the answer to your question might be:
wait... indefinitely! Or better: wait until the Linux Community will
finish its "decisive" project: a "clone" for DirectX!
