I've been on c-pap for about 1-year, and want to ask people who are using it, do you have a problem with dried lips??? After about a week after getting a new mask excessive air comes out the exhaust hole and dries out lips. Tried moving hose in every position possible......I don't have enough money to get a mask every week........

My hubby has sleep apnea, says to tell you he has a humidifier on the side of the machine extending the length of the machine - it's an accessory. Since then he hasn't had that problem. Without the humidifier he had what he called "mummy lips".

But with the humidifier if it tips over you start drowning because the water gets in the machine. He also has a chin strap that keeps him from opening his mouth when he is sleeping. He also has a nostril mask vs a nose mask, he find the nostril ones work better. Set your machine to "ramp" (if you have that setting) to make sure you fall asleep entirely before the blowing starts. He went through two night long sleep studies at the hospital to make sure he had the perfect mask at the perfect setting.

You might want to check with your sleep doctor and see if he can add any of these accessories to help you out.

Youre oxgyen needs to be Humidified. You need to have a bottle of saline so that you nasal passages and lips dont get dried out. DONT USE ANY LUBRICANTS OIL BASED. That is a FIRE HAZARD WAITING TO HAPPEN.
