My opinion says NO. because people believe what they are told to believe.

does the terms in this letter to the Ancient church Elders apply to this day? To me it says the people that are alive in "THAT" day are the chosen generation. in my opinion that generation is NOT the same people in this generation. And the Royal priesthood which Jesus Ordained the disciples, and probably sucessively they ordained others, with the priesthood but can anyone truly prove that same ordination exists today?

Nope, not unless it is explicitly included in their doctrine. In otherwords, the priesthood that Jesus gave His disciples must have been passed down from one person to another in order for that authority to still be in force today. That is how the ancient church operated. That is how Jesus established his church while He lived.

As far as I know, only two churches have a valid claim at this unbroken lineage of priesthood authority:

1) the one that claims to be original church, Roman Catholic

or

2) the one that claims to be the restored church, the LDS church.

However, given the fruits of the former, I'm inclined to lean toward the "latter" (pun intended).

Well, I DO believe that the generation now is also a chosen generation - I believe some of the most valiant spirits were chosen to come and be on the earth in these latter-days. I believe Joseph Smith was fore-ordained to be the prophet to restore the Priesthood and the fulness of the gospel to the earth. I do not believe that it was just by chance...I beleive that Lord had him prepared for what he would do.
We as LDS believe that Joseph received the Priesthood from those who held it already - Joseph received the Priesthood from John the Baptist, http://www.lds.org/portal/site/LDSOrg/menuitem.3933737ad2ff28132eb22a86942826a0/?vgnextoid=bbd508f54922d010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=419139b439c98010VgnVCM1000004d82620a____
Joseph later received the higher priesthood, the Melchezidek, from Peter, James, and John

The (true) Priesthood must be passed on from one who worthily holds it to another.

If you are a Christian today then you are in the royal priesthood. God chose us from the beginning of time to be His children and to serve Him.

Peter spoke these words, and the catholic church is the outcome of Petes teaching. They are a group of perverted child molesters, monsters really, and far from royal.
