Possibly because your doing them wrong. Don't come all the way up so that your elbows lock.
Your body weight may be too heavy for your arms...dont force it, go to the gym and start lifting weights with a trainer.

I have the same thing happen. If I extend my arm quickly (either one), my elbow pops. At this point, I do it as a habit...like cracking your knuckles.

My friends call it "Hitleritis", because it looks like I'm "Hieling" when I throw my arm out from time to time, hehe.

that happens to me every time i do them. i don't think it's a problem. the cause of most joint-popping is air bubbles trapped in your joint which are released during certain motions, which is not harmful.

because you have air in your bones and they pop when it is let out, i learned that in what 5th grade
