There is no such thing as a "creation scientist" since creation was a supernatural event, and nothing supernatural falls within the purview of science. The phrase is a contradiction in terms.

As for the much touted document signed by 700 scientists, it is a sham. First of all the "scientists" who signed (who are all listed on their website) are mostly non-biologists. They include physicists, nuclear physicists, chemists, electrochemists, astronomers, psychiatrists, psychologists, philosophers, geologists, geophysicists, computer specialists, limnologists, oceanographers, meterologists, mathematicians, statisticians, pharmacologists, image analysts, civil engineers, aerospace engineers, industrial engineers, bioengineers, dermatologists, pediatricians, radiologists, nutritionists, atmospheric scientists, scientific historians, etc., etc., none of whom are in any position to offer a legitimate professional opinion about a complex biological process.

Furthermore, the statement they signed does not indicate any lack of acceptence of biological evolution. The statement reads, "We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life". Any biologist alive today would completely agree with this statement. A hundred and fifty years of subsequent scientific investigation have revealed that biological evolution is a complex process that involves several mechanisms in addition to random mutation and natural selection. Therefore it is true that these two factors by themselves, as described by Darwin, cannot account for the complexity of life. So, the statement crafted by the Discovery Institute is equivalent to saying "We are skeptical of claims that the principles discovered by Gregor Mendel can account for all inherited characteristics"; or, "We are skeptical that the discoveries of Louis Pasteur can account for all communicable disease mechanisms". No kidding! Obviously the initial discoveries made by the "founding father" in a specific scientific discipline do not constitute the totality of what becomes known after an additional century or two of research. But ... no-one is claiming otherwise!

So, what is the point of the whole project? In a word, deception. They set up a straw man by composing a written rejection of a claim that no-one is actually making, couch it in essentially meaningless terms that anyone could agree with, and get it signed by a motley crew of individuals with questionable credentials. Why? So they can publish an intentionally misleading statement to the effect that "hundreds of scientists have expressed skepticism about biological evolution", without being called bold-faced liars - though the effect is the same - intentional deception. Uninformed people who read their propaganda trustfully assume that the signers must surely be biologists familiar with evolutionary processes, which most of them certainly are not; and that they actually expressed skepticisim regarding the fact of evolution itself, which they certainly did not. Pitiful.

I am a Christian and I heard on a radio program that 700 Scientists have signed some kind of paper stating that they no longer believe in evolution but creation. Of course there are more than 700 Scientist who believe this, but these are supposedly recent ones that actually signed some document. As they were saying on this program, by doing this, these Scientist are jeopardizing their careers and reputations. So, they must feel pretty confident in their findings. This is an interesting website. www.creationworldview.org

They are pseudo scientists. 99.84% support evolution. Many Christian evangelicals, will get science degrees just to become creation scientists. But they don't practice true science nor do they base their beliefs off science. They say things like "scientifically, you can't prove that God made everything exactly the way it is, including evidence to appear different." But that isn't a scientific method.

To think that a 'Christian Creation Scientist' would be against evolution...

Next thing you'll be telling us is that the KKK has something against black people!

There are no such thing as a "creation scientist". It's like explaining how Boeing 787 fly through readings of Peter Pan...

How do you explain scientists who are Christian and who support evolution theory?

What do you mean "explain it"? They're just doing it. It by no means makes them right.

That's like saying: "How do you explain Preachers coming out and saying that God really exists?". Of course that's what they're going to do.

And when the government came out and said there were countless WMD's in Iraq that would destroy us all!!! Well, they're the authority, and they said it, so it MUST be right, hehe. (note the sarcasm)

If you will go on the Discovery Institute's website you will find that believing the Biblical view is a prior requirement for association with them. This means you have to assume the Bible is correct whatever science may tell you. This is a religious position, not a scientific one. Trying to bend the data to serve your prejudice is not science. It is marketing.
