but then when Christians simply want to express their religion(which they have a right to do) the non Christians get all up in arms. Why is that? I hate to remind you non Christians, but even in America today, despite all your attempts to create a secular state, Christians still have rights.

and all of you who are saying, "Christians do the same thing!" this isn't about us. I'm sure each of you belongs to a group, whether racial, or ethnic, or religious, that wanted simply to be what they were, in a place where many were something else. Think about that before you taunt a Christian again, no matter what you think your "justification" is.

and to nik_m, of course, no one is perfectly tolerant; we're human beings, so perfection is out of our reach. Some folks, however, don't even try.

You ask a valid question, but I don't think you will get any resolution.

Not all non-believers who post to this Forum are hate-mongers. And some self-professed Christians seem to have left the love reservation when judging some of their responses. I will confine my remarks below only to those that act badly.

For these individuals, it is interesting and sad to see how some persons will behave when hiding behind the anonymity of the computer. As an "old guy" I have occasionally acted irresponsibly in my youth, so I can relate, but only up to a point. It is also readily apparent these persons would be ashamed if they knew their parents, husband, wife, children, etc., learned of what they write herein. They do their loved ones a disservice and dishonor them with such behavior.

The questions and answers one sees in this forum all too often represent a triumph of flippancy over rigor. These flippant persons that post obnoxious, vitriolic items obviously have not formally studied the matters being asked for several years. Rather they enjoy mockery and proving that they really have no value to add to the answer and too much wasted time on their hands.

The best solution I can recommend for you is to ignore their vapid questions or comments. It is very easy to scan past them and focus your eyes on the substantive and cogent items. If you spend enough time in this Forum the persons prone to ill manners become known quickly, enabling the ignoring of their wasted efforts even easier.

Likewise, the questions are sometimes poorly formed or are laden with underlying bias that tells the reader that no cogent and rigorous answer will satisfy the asker.

In fairness, I am frequently embarrassed by other Christians' answers. I feel a sense of dismay over the obvious lack of deeper learning that is evident by many of the responses. Most seem to want to just fire off whatever pops into their heads, streams of consciousness, etc., with no evidence of reasoned arguments and synthesis of the issues. Some of the questions are often shallow or just asked for point building or something.

Unfortunately, many very good Christians have not spent enough time trying to learn and understand the theologies of the faith. Many also lack formal training in biblical hermeneutics, so they may misunderstand the full meanings of the texts they frequently quote.

I am not advocating that everyone get degrees in theology, only that they spend some time studying materials outside the scriptures so that their faith will be solidly grounded.

Just keep asking questions in an objective manner and you will sometimes get useful responses. I try to answer questions so structured with reasoned theological, philsophical, and logical responses.

HI I am a christian myself. just to put that out there. I believe that all people have the right to express there religious beliefs. I took a class on tolerance In college and they said, to be tolerant is to develop your own personal views. so by standing behind what you believe in your both in a way tolerant. Tolerance of diversity or religions is about how you personally express your views. why do they get up in arms? they are expressing their views. why did you post this question on the world wide web. because you expressing your beliefs and your views in your own way. i guess the answer you may not want but here it is. NO one is perfectly tolerant. its impossible. there will always be differences so you are no more tolerant than the non Christian. and the whole thing about a christian state, unifying religion and politics is the reason why we left Britain. threw manipulation, our government could use gods message to turn USA into Like Italy in ww2.... Fascist. I believe Jesus is about peace and forgiveness. He was the only tolerant person ever. So let them be up in arms its not our place to judge. that's gods job.
You and all are loved perfectly loved by Jesus Christ.
have a great day.

Christians absolutely have rights and they should be respected however even you must admit, not all Christians are as accommodating to others. You know it, I know it. Also, you are being a bit dishonest in that you imply that Christians have no problem living in a secular state, but again, you and I both know, most Christians who play the victim tend to be the ones who want a Christian Theocracy, where only the Bible and Christian teachings are the law of the land. Please, I respect your right to your view but have the honesty to admit what your really talking about.

It appears to be that method. I'm a questioning early life who is unsure of their sexual orientation. I'm sexually pressured. I'm not certain if i am homosexual, straight, or bisexual. But i do know that there is a devout clash with homosexuality. Homosexuality and faith are a nasty combo (or so I believe). This is anything that each gay who wants to be devout, comply with religions, or comply with God has to face. However this can be a project. Homosexuals now need to opt for between their faith and their sexuality. Homosexuals are suggested and taught to now not act upon their desires. If they achieve this, they're viewed sinning. But, are you aware what this implies for homosexuals? Some homosexuals will need to live a life of loneliness and separation from love or romance of any variety to have a better relationship with God. Some homosexuals may just need to engage in love and romance. So the options for a religious, or secular gay, who could have a wish for becoming religious, is restricted relying on what course they wish to enter into. God does not hate homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender men and women, or every other member of the LGBT neighborhood. Nonetheless, God does now not like it after we have interaction in sin. God does no longer hate someone. He only hates the sin. "You invariably read about the debate that there is not any situation in Christianity for gay men and women." this isn't authentic. Nevertheless, there's some truth in it. Christianity does have a place for homosexual men and women, however they're suggested and instructed to not act upon their wants with a purpose to become holy. Homosexuals are steered and taught to be celibate.

Jerusalem is the holiest city to the Jewish people, but they are not allowed to pray on Mt. Moriah, the site of the First Temple and the Second Temple.

Only Muslims are permitted to pray on the Temple Mount.

Jerusalem is the third holiest place in the world to Muslims. They are permitted to pray on the Temple Mount.

There are many churches, synagogues and mosques throughout Israel. All religions have complete freedom of worship, with the one exception mentioned above.

Bethlehem (which is not in Israel but is part of the Palestinian Authority) had been primarily a Christian city, but in recent years the "friction" with the Muslims there has resulted in many Christians leaving.

Currently, Jews are not permitted to go to Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem except in bulletproof buses, although it's just a few minutes walk from Gilo in Jerusalem.

hello,

Firstly there are tolerant and non-tolerant everything. you don't have to be a Christan or otherwise. America is a secular state, with separation of church and state and that is correct. The state represents all it's people not just one religion. All religions have a right to free expression and I am unaware of anyone saying this shouldn't be the case. If a Christan wants to express their religion then I am all for it, especially if it is a Christan message of respect and love and tolerance. everyone is Free to express themselves as long as it is not a message of hate or violence.

I'm not a christian and i agree that everyone should have the right to believe in whatever they want if it makes them happy and brings them comfort. What i disagree with is when people try to force their belief on you and try to change your beliefs.
Just because they believe something is 'Wrong' or 'Right' doesn;t mean I should.
What i'm intolerant to is being force fed something that i dont or have no intent of believeing in.
Personally i'm glad that we DONT all believe in the same thing! think how boring the world would be!

HI, Sorry this isn't in response to the question its in response to Cato's answer.

You referred to us as flawed humans and your exactly right. Christians are just regulaur people saved by grace. We are no better than anyone else, we all had a debt that we couldn't pay.

I just wanted to Clarify,

Thanks,

America is a secular country. Hence the importance of separation of church and state. What most people fear is a transition to a theocracy.

Yes! Because, as everyone knows, the true purpose of secularism is to make christians unable to express their beliefs!!!

Yes, you do get a few idiots who insult every christian on here. But people have a right to disagree.
