My two dogs, Pomeranians, 8 and 9 months old are making me lose my mind. This just started recently, as I would fall asleep, throughout the night time, they would chew up everything and anything. For example, at least 3-5 times a week, they would take their wee-wee pad from the kitchen, bring it to the living room and destroy it into tiny little pieces. Due to the cotton inside the wee-wee pad, it's very hard to vacuum. I tried pinning the wee-wee pad with heavy objects, but they pull it from underneath. Just last night, they chewed up a phone charge! I mean, I guess I can hide things that are chewable, but what's next, couch? shoes? I don't have to hide things from my babies, I just want them to know that this isn't permitted. They also have hundreds of toys, from stuffed ones to bones, for them to chew on. Why do they consider to destroy my house and personal belongings?

The problem may be they have too many toys, and they now think everything is their toy. Cut them down to just a couple toys, and when you catch them chewing something, say "no" and then show them their toys

Because chewing is part of being a puppy. It's their way of exploring their surroundings, and it can be a difficult habit to break. Have you considered putting them in a crate at night until they move out of this explortion phase? They don't really realize that they're doing something wrong, so preventing them from getting into trouble is probably the best thing to do. They also could get hurt if they eat something that is poisonous or sharp.

Start putting them in a crate at night, it will be much safer. If they are just chewing on anything they could end up chewing on a wire or choking on something or swallowing something that ends up making them sick.

If you are against putting them in a crate then try making sure they are worn out before bed (go for a nice long walk or jog, play with them) they are probably chewing on everything because they are bored, if they are tired they will be sleeping instead of looking for something to do. They also sell spray at pet stores that will have a bad flavor to keep them from chewing. If you catch them chewing on something they shouldn't have then tell them no and give them something you want them to be chewing on.

They have no idea which are toys and which are your things. They are only puppies, and can't tell the difference. Pick up anything you don't want chewed. Shut the bedroom door and any other rooms you don't want them in.

They need to be crate trained, before you lose more things, and before they chew something harmful to them. Crate training will also help to house train them. They won't learn manners if you don't teach them!

These dogs need to be crate trained. Buy them each crates and train them to go into their crate at night. When they're confined, they can't do any damage to your house. Crates are a useful tool because, when properly used, your dog will come to see it as a comfy den and not a harsh cage. See the link in my source list to help you crate train your dogs.

It's also very important to give your pups lots of exercise during the day so that they're tired out at night. It's not normal for a dog to be being active at night, since they are diurnal animals, like humans. Take them for walks and let them have lots of playtime out in the yard. A tired dog is a good dog.

I would say, without any hesitation, to crate them at night. It might *seem* cruel to you, but once they are used to it, they will actually enjoy spending time in their private home. It will be a place for them to feel secure. Show them the crate during the day, leave the door open, encourage them to go inside and check out the comfy digs you set up....it gives them a lot less to explore, and chances are they will fall asleep quickly! Puppies are smart, and if they weren't cute, there would be a lot less understanding doggie owners!! Good luck with your little babies!

One word...CRATE!

This is not punishment and should never be used as punishment. They can be crated together if they are happier together. I am attaching a link to explain crate training.

Never give your babies old shoes...they can't read the labels and can't tell the old from the new. Be sure they have plenty of chew toys.

You are giving them too much control. Why are you giving them free run of the house. That is wrong, especially when training.

They should be in a crate. Try crate training them.

Also, get some bitter apple spray and spray on items they are not allowed to chew on.

too many toys and they may become bored. take some toys away and hide them for a few weeks then switch the toys, reintroduce the new ones and take the old ones away. also this is their teenage phase they will be bad so why dont you crate them at night? do they have a crate? if not look into one

They are bored. I agree with the crate at night. I don't agree with giving them your old shoes. They will not know the difference between their chew shoes and your new ones.
