can i hook up a hidden camera to my vcr to record footage so i can watch it later?

Yes -- connect the camera Video Output to the VCR Video Input. Use the timer to start it if you aren't home (be sure and select the Video Input as the source for the timer).

Yes you can, but it is probably cheaper (and easier) to just buy the cheapest camcorder you can find
