What would be the perfect name for a female white Siberian Husky?

I was at the pet store and I saw this gorgeous white Siberian Husky with blue eyes. I bought her and I have no idea what to name her. Any good names?

My children rescued a couple of dogs from our back ally in Texas. The first one we found was a Brittany Spaniel, it's owner picked him up in three days.

The second was a white Siberian Husky with beautiful blue eyes. No one claimed her and I called all the pounds, and vets, we tried hard to find her home.

Of course I was regaled by my children with' Mommy can we pleease keep her?' I had just had my youngest and her sister was two, the last thing I was ready for was a dog.

( I love animals. I just have been overwhelmed by my five children, have not been in the best of health, actually in a wheel chair for a while, and have had financial problems that would be overwhelming by itself. )

Anyway, I think her owners got tired of chasing her down. You see Huskies love to run and they will bolt given an opportunity. It doesn't take much, just a moment your not watching. (given my physical condition at the time and my distaste for hard keepers, this was a hard pill for me to swallow)

They love to run so much they may not come when their called. I can't tell you how annoying and time consuming that can be.

But we fell in love with her anyway and she became a member of our family. There was no way she was going to the pound if I could help it.

She became our Misty, because her eyes were a beautiful ~misty blue~.

Sadly, do to a series of unfortunate events we lost her. Do in part to her love of running.

My older children were heartbroken. They miss her very much. So do I.

If you have never had a Husky before, expect her to run. They must be kept tethered or in a run/kennel.

Misty was tethered for a short time and we had to make sure that both leash and tether were clipped before undoing whichever we were switching her to, she would pull away from the children and bolt in a flash.

I doubt you could ever trust them to walk without a leash.( Like I was able to train my dogs I had, before I had children. I had Dobies and a couple of Boarder Collie mixes. They all died of old age.)

Huskies are a working dog and love to be worked. Certainly, you will need to get skates or a bike to get in enough running to keep misbehavior from occurring. The more Misty was exercised the better companion she was.

I suggest reading or watching Cesar Millan, he is by far the most sensible trainer I've ever seen. And you must be a pack leader with a Husky, he teaches this concept very well. Very naturally.

Expect a lot of hair all over (you will never wear black again) and I've read that Huskies generally sing (howl).

Misty rarely made a sound, in fact I was hoping to get to hear her sing more than she did. I understand they do not make good watchdogs, however, Misty would bark at people at the door and could occasionally be very protective.

If you live in a hot climate they need to be kept indoors in the summer and watched carefully when out, as they can over heat quickly. Lots of water and shade .
I don't understand why Misty was in Texas, it's so hot there. But then she ended up in Las Vegas. I do hope she is safe and well.

Someday I would like to get the kids another Misty, not to replace her, but because we loved her so much. She was a lot of hard work, but it was mostly work we loved and enjoyed.

Sorry for the long story, I hope you find somethings useful. I assume that sence you bought your pup from a pet shop that you probably didn't get much info from them. Pet shops usually do not have much experiance with each individual breed, if any at all.

Misty, Kamiko (that was going to be my husky's name if I ever got one), Anything kind of arctic sounding would be good for a dog like that, since they love the cold. Chilly, I don't know. Just make sure the name fits the personality as well.

Best way to name the dog is to ask her. Look into her eyes and see what is there. Watch her personality for a few days and sure enough, her name will come to you. She will let you know.
