LOL, re-gifting would be if someone gave you the wallet, and then you gave it to the neighbor. Pretty sure taking the money to buy him the wallet is just plain stealing. Pretty funny though...

Does he know you borrowed the $50.00? If not, it's called STEALING. It's illegal, you know.
Return the money fast to him. Whatever you are buying for him as a gift is not a gift. It belongs to him since you used his money without him knowing it!
