i used to have trouble sleeping in places that were unfamiiar to me. I think you just have to learn to relax. Does it matter if you are the last person to fall asleep? of course not, some one has to be. try not to think about it or let it worry you and you will find it easier to sleep

The problem is with you now you expect not to sleep so you don't next time you have to sleep away from home
Why dont you try night Kalms for a few days before they are herbal and not habit forming they might help you to relax

I have the same problems sometimes. I don't take medication (because of my past), tea, milk, or even oatmeal. All of them are sound possibilities. I would suggest finding a way to relax like day dreaming, while you find a comfortable position. You could also try taking your own pillow, so the scent of home will be with you. I tend to want to snack before bed, so I take a small snack with me. I eat it while walking the length of that person's house with out interfering with their privacy. I hope you find the relief your looking for.

try a herbal remedy to help you sleep. Nytal is meant to be good.
have you tried all the usual home remedies such as milky drink and soothing bath?
The more you stress about it the worse it will get so you need something relaxing before bed.
