All my dogs have gotten excited and immediately wanted their collars back on. And every dog I've known has been the same way. They act as if you had taken their clothes away!
I guess they just don't feel right without their collars.

I had a Peke that used to get sad when his collar was off. I think he liked the jingle of his tags as he waddled along. He would pout like crazy until I put it back on him after his bath. He was too little to do much damage even if he did get angry which he didn't. Someone wrote that you need to re-establish the pack order with your dog. YOU are the master. Don't let him get away with this, or you may be sorry later if something more important than a bath arises and you have to fight with him. Good luck.

My dog absolutly goes NUTS when you take her collar off, because she knoes she will be getting a bath. She is only an 8lb Miniature Dashchaund, and she HATES bath time!

Hes not Angry, he might have not had it off in a while. Its like taking your shoes off after a long day. Don't you feel better? My dogs use to act all embarrassed and shameful looking when I'd take their collars off, like their naked or something! When we are at home, I just leave them off and they have gottern use to it. I'm worried they could get caught on something and they could strangle them self. And we all know dogs are too expensive to let that happen.

dogs will not get angry unless they feel their pack leader is failing them and they feel like they have to become the pack leader....take him out on a loonng walk before attempting to bathe him again...he needs to be tired and submissive...then, call him and make him come to you, which reinforces you as the pack leader, the pack always comes to or follows the pack leader so when you walk him keep his head beside you and keep little slack on the leash...if you are calm and dominant he will follow you into fire if he thinks you know what you are doing....good luck!

Some dogs view their collar just as they would one of their toys, "mine", and do not especially care to have it taken away.
Better than refusing to wear one!!
