The way I make them at home is

Squeeze limes and lemons (3-1 ratio)
add zest and allow juice to sit inrefrigerator overnight

Make simple syrup (saturated sugar and water solution)

next day,
-add two shot glasses of juice
-couple tablespoons simple syrup (more or less to desired sweetness)
-one shot tequilla (I like Herradurra Resposado)
-and one half shot of Grand Marnier (can use tripple sec or cointreau if you prefer)

Shake with ice, serve on the rocks

Not an exact recipe, you can adjust amounts to suit you. At times I have even added a little fresh squeezed orange juice, though I prefer it without,

I got my recipe for the bar from Grand Marnier. It's 2 oz. premium tequila, 2 oz. Grand Marnier, and 2 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice. Shake over ice, and pour onto fresh ice. They were very popular at my restaurant.

1 1/2oz Tequilla (Patron Silver is my personal fav)
3/4oz Cointreau (not triple sec)
3/4oz fresh lime juice
2oz of sweet and sour mix
splash of orange juice

Muddle limes,
pour ingredients,
shake with ice,
strain into a bucket glass filled with ice.
Garnish with lime
