In response to "piercings show lack of intelligence" i have 13 piercings and 4 tattoos and im extremely well educated and intelligent

For those asking about my piercings, i have a tiny (cute) stud in my nostril, barely visible, my bellybutton, and 11 in random places in my ears, they are a personal statement, part of me, i only wear the three in my ears most of the time just for the simple reason that i find them uncomfortable to sleep on nowadays for some reason!Ive stretched lobes and done all sorts, theyre now all back to normal size and i look none the different... its the comments like "get a job" etc that annoy me!
I also have 4 tattoos, i have one between my shoulderblades, its a tribal angel, which i had soon after i lost my baby, it just reminds me of her, i have a tiny star on my left hip at the front, i have a crescent of stars going around my right ankle bone and i have music notes on the back of my rifht hip... all of these things mean something to me and i dont regret any!

What is with people who think that your brain seeps out the holes you put into your bodies?

I'm a college professor - I'd take anyone to task on the intelligence comment, and WIN, I guarantee that - and yet, I have 19 piercings. Plus, I'm male - it's typically more acceptable for women to have piercings than men, as many of you have probably found.

It's time for people to realize that we are interacting less and less in person. We should be spending less time judging the appearances of people because soon it won't really matter. By the time we are all old men and women, most of our business transactions and personal relationships will be managed on a digital medium - in abstentia of a "no-piercing" policy like so many employers of today's world.

Interestingly enough, I'm a business owner and as a professor I'm often hired to consult for area companies. I've yet to meet with any dissatisfaction of my work based on my appearance, even though there was initial resistance from a "first impression." I have a very strong client list, and 99.9% of them are repeat customers. I've changed so many minds...

So, to all of you who believe that we're dripping our minds from the various holes and artwork that we have chosen to adorn our bodies with - shame on you, and I can't wait to change *your* mind in the near future and take your money for job well done.

Rob

PS: Incidently, my business attorney now has tragus rings because he liked mine. So much for non-intelligent people.

I've taken most of my piercings out recently as I have to for work, but I would never say they indicate a lack of intelligence. I had my nose, my bellybutton, several in my ears and I have 3 tattoos - all of which have meaning for me. I also have a high level of education so no, I do not lack intelligence.

At risk of upsetting people, I expect the lack of intelligence is more likely to be within the people who critcise others who've chosen to be pierced and tattooed in the first place. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be an individual and body art has been going on for thousands of years all over the world. Perhaps there should be a little more thought put in before coming out with flippant statements about the intelligence of people just because they choose to be a little more colourful!

Yes - I have 3 earrings in each ear and my naval pierced. I also have a tatto on my lower back on the left hand side. I would like to have my lip done but have bad enough enamel on my teeth as it is so think this is prob not a good idea, thought about getting the fake rings for it tho. I am however going to get 2 more tattoo's so i have a triangle of tattoo's on my back. It is a personal choice what you do with your body and should be no one else's choice.

Well, to be honest I don't really see what's so great about piercings. I just have my ears pierced but I wouldn't want to get much else done coz it' a big responsibility and I don't think it looks great, but of course each to their own. I think 13 piercings is a bit much, where do you fit them all? I know what you mean when you say people stereotype people with piercings, and i don't think it's fair to say that someone is not intelligent because they are pierced (there are unpierced people who have half a brain cell!). there are lots of signs that indicate someone's intelligence, and whilst we all do it, i don't think it's right to judge someone by the way they look (although i'm guilty of it too and i'm not proud of myself for it).
Tattoos...well I do have very strong thoughts about them. I agree that some look nice when people get them, on young, fresh skin, but I think people don't stop to think about the future and the consequences. A tattoo is for life, and whilst you may still like it when you're sixty (as in, you may still like the design, etc.), it probably won't look good anymore coz it'll be green and saggy and wrinkly (I hate to bring you down, lol). That said, I understand that tattoos can symbolize something or someone, and the sentimental value, but I personally wouldn't get one because I think there are other ways (which i prefer) and other things that can represent that special something in your life which you may have lost.

Yes please! :D I have my labret done, and I am looking to get the 2 of the 4 piercings I have in my ears re-done professionally *they were done with those dumb piercing guns in those little boutique crap when I was younger* And if I had the money, I'd probably get my septum pierced.

I don't care if people think it "shows a lack of intelligence". People who say that are ignorant. They prefer to make quick judgments rather then take the time to learn and get to know a person for more then whats on the outside. That's one of the reasons I like my piercings and tattoos. If a person acts adversely to my body mods, then that tells me alot about that person, mainly that they are superficial.. :)

I love piercings! I have five (for the time being) and plans for many more. The number of piercings and tattoos has nothing to do with someones intelligence. I'm an honor roll student and am going to per sue my masters in early education in the Fall after graduating from high school. People against them are against them for society reasons ... it's stupid, not like they harm them and if they don't like them ... oh well! Not their body it's mine! I don't plan on ever taking out my Industrial Bar or my Cartilage piercings. What are your piercings? I have my lobes, industrial, and three single holed cartilage. It's a great adrenaline rush!

tattoos and piercings are a statement of individuality, no different from people who wear designer labels to make a statement.
Very personal things when true thought and consideration has been given to them and people who judge, discriminate or persecute people with piercings/tattoos/both should remember that just because they don't want any doesn't give them the right to make uninformed comments/remarks about other who do.
Are these the same people who judge and make presumptions about people due to colour/race or creed also?
It's intolerance and ignorance.

Don't let anyone tell you want is right for you. If you want to get a piercing then go for it. Be aware that they are addicting like tattoos, but unlike tattoos, they are not permanent. You can always take them out. I have my ears piecred a few times, a belly ring, a nose ring and had both my nipples pierced. I have never regretted any of them!

I think theyre fine as long as they are taken care of. Nothing is grosser than someone with an infected piercing because they didnt care for it. blah. Not really a fan of stretched piercings like ear plugs but to each their own and its a persons own busines what they want to do with their body. Ive got 3 piercings per ear, but prefer tattoos. They dont get hooked on things like peircings can.

I say depends on who you are! I think piercings and tattoos are fine, and if you are happy with them, then that's great, it's an expression of what YOU like, and I don't know if I like YOU. I might do, but not just because of your piercings! You have more to offer than that, and that's what would interest me.
btw I have 5 tattoos and USED to have piercings - I still love them on me, but if anyone were to judge me just for that, they would be missing a LOT
