Not true! Not true for identicall twins, either. I've heard of a twin feeling the other twins pain- but thats about all. I'm sure there will be some depression, because the bond between twins is like no other- but, it won't be fatal!

As the mother of twins, fraternal, one of whom has left this earth, I can clearly hear your pain. Twins have a special bond and that is an added sadness when it lost. You will greive, you will cry, you will stumble blindly through days that seem to never end, and then, one day not too far from now, you will not think of it as much. At some point, you will not think of it for several days in a row. It Is very important now that you do allow yourself to 'wallow' in it, to cry, and to feel the pain that is completely normal in your situation. There is no way out but through. You will always carry some of this pain with you, but in time, will find that it becomes less bitter, more sweet. Finding a support group for siblings experiencing a death, or more specifically for twins, might help you deal with some of these feelings and to find new bonds to ease the loss of your twin. Yahoo groups might even have one online. Don't let this tragedy end your life as well. We are not meant to understand why these things happen, but we are meant to grow from them. Imgaine a life not tempered by pain, and you will have imagined a person incapable of understanding empathy, compassion, beauty, and love. We only understand the true depth of love once we are able to know it's loss, and love anyway.
My sympathies, prayers, and love to you.

no it is not true, although I do not have hard facts I did watch a show on the discovery channel about twins, and there were a lot of cases that showed one died and the other one lived along time after, I'm sure you would feel a stange loss in yourself but you wouldn't die. I guess anything is possible though...... but that can be for anyone, If a couple who was married forever, and one dies, does the other one die from a broken heart...

No, but it can be hard. My friend is a twin and her sister died in a car accident as a teenager. She and her family had a hard time for years but she has married now and has kids. I sure she still misses her sister but life does go on. hope that helps.

I have a son who will be 17 soon, his twin died 6 hours after being born. He knows all about it and has been fine with it, we always talked to him about it, and let him know that we were always there if he had any questions.
