It gets increasingly irritating that people can't spell for anything, and refuse to use this option in their questions. It's one thing to use abbreviations, it's another thing to misspell so badly that you can't even understand the question.

Anal retentive? Uh, I don't think so. I think it's common sense. I'm not talking about using i's instead of e's or anything like that, I'm talking about if you're taking the time to write a question that hundres (or thousands) of people will read at least try! Oh and I'm not wasting points, I actually wanted to know the answer. Thank you.

Funnily enough I do all the time at work. I suppose it nice sometimes to just not care after doing it all the time And another thing the spell check does not always work. Depending on the the people typing and where in the world. For example. I spell Colour this way and spell check is color, but I'm English, That's is how we spell it over here. This my occur in other countries as well. Personally I respect how some one wants to say something. As long as the message gets across I don't see a problem, after all isn't it what languages are all about... Communication..as long as the message gets across.
Life is too short to worry about little things like that.

Mostly, I think it's just laziness. If it's someone for whom English is a second language, it doesn't work well. But you can basically tell. I have my opinion about the laziness regarding related CONTENT but I don't want to abuse anywhere here.
PLEASE ALSO--the first DRAGON who answered has cloned me for two days. I don't give nasty answers. I've been on Y/A for a year & lots of people know me, & know how I answer & have been very supportive. Back to the question, I gave you a star since for one thing, lots people care & wonder about why the spell check isn't used. (Of course, it doesn't work for grammar!)
But sometimes I find it very helpful because I type too fast! Frankly, I don't like all the acronyms either, "seems" a sign of laziness, too. A thoughtful question deserves a thoughtfully phrased answer. I'm with you.

Before I started talking to my friends online, I used to have good spelling like this. The reason why I stopped was because:
1. Spelling makes you look nerdy
2. All of my friends mispelled
3. Why bother when most of the time people know what you mean?
I guess I would be like you but I don't care anymore.
If you want people to spell more correctly for your questions, just ask. (Some people will respect you, I think). Hope this answers your question.

I know how you feel. It's real irritating to me when i read messages or e-mails from anyone and they choose not to do spell-check. The thought that goes through my mind is, "I know you got common sense and i know you at least finished high school so the least you could do is learn how to spell or use that abc check on the toolbar!" Look alive! There are some questions on here that you can't understand. I came up on two!

I don't get it either. I think it's horrible how poorly are schools are teaching spelling now. In this world of spell check, it's just easier to tell students to use it instead of working with them on their spelling skills. Once they get older, they figure as long as they're not being graded, why does it matter if they use spell check or not.

Right on! I know what you mean. There are some questions on here that make no sense at all because the spelling is so bad. It's so quick and easy to do too.

Yes the "Check Spelling" facility is a highly useful utility here and any conscientious, responsible member, on this forum, realizes this, and frequently uses this facility. However, there are an enormous variety of persons on this forum, and, "People will be People," after all has been said and done for. Realize the significance of Jesus' words? "Father, please forgive them, for they don't know what they do..." ( N.B. ⥠ANSWER APPLICABLE ONLY TO DEFAULTERS, IN ANY FIELD - NOT TO THE METICULOUS AND SCRUPULOUS, DEDICATED WORKERS, WHO ARE NEVER DEVIOUS OR CALLOUS, IN ANY OF THEIR ACTIVITIES ⥠).

I'm guessing it's because they want their answer read, and it's a known fact that the further down the line your post is, the less likely it is that anyone actually reads it! So......they hurriedly write and hurriedly post......and everyone reads their horrible mess - looks like they'd at least go back and do spell check after it's posted, right?
Best wishes!
