If you have already chosen which college you want to go to, make use of their admissions councilors. That's what they are there for. They can help you with everything. As stated above, make sure that you have applied at FAFSA.ed.gov and have received your pin number. It's used when you apply for grants.

Good luck!

There are a variety of sources to locate grants and scholarships to attend college on a variety of topics and themes. All of the sources listed below are free.

First, fill out the FAFSA form which will tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college itself. It provides scholarships, student loans, and grants. This is to be completed each year after January 1 for the fall semester and will cover the entire school year.

Second, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.

Third, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Fourth, high school seniors can locate local scholarships at the high school guidance office.

Fifth, some states do offer scholarships or grants for students with a certain GPA or test score on the state test. The guidance office should have more information about this, or search Google.com and Yahoo.com for more information.

Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites. There are scholarships for a variety of things including ethnicity, clubs, hobbies, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered onto a form on the website.

Good luck!

classification rings have continually been intense priced. I bear in thoughts being shocked on the cost when I graduated from intense college in 1972. i do not bear in thoughts the cost yet i became later very pleased at the same time as my father offered it for me. Many seniors get carry of their rings for Christmas of their senior year. you should do the cap and gown. there is absolute self belief about that. Our seniors are constrained interior the type of invites they're allowed to deliver out by the college. they could deliver out an infinite type of bulletins. i'd not get over excited sending them until eventually you've an aunt or someone who would absolutely savour it. Are you jointly with the cost of senior photos on your rant? i do not see ordinary how you could pass up this significant portrait yet you do not ought to purchase the large kit. I had a buddy who offered the oil portray depending on the senior image. Years later her daughter became embarassed by it. save that funds for the marriage. i'd purchase an 8x10 and some small photos accessible out. gathering the playing cards is a few thing i have not at all heard of. it isn't a common prepare the following in California to the finest of my expertise. Come on, how intense priced can a t-blouse be? it really is time to get a grip on your self, no count number how intense priced senior year is, it is going to cost even extra as time is going on. next is college and then a wedding ceremony. After that they are going to pick some help with a downpayment for a usual residing house, then come the toddlers. ultimately the costs will taper off and which will make you a touch unhappy.

go to www.fastweb.com you fill out stuff about yourself and they give you 100s of scholarship opportunities that best apply to you and there are job opportunities on there as well. And also get a pin number for fafsa and you'll need your parents 2006 tax return report and you'll have to fill stuff out but it tells you how to do it step by step and you can see if you qualify for any financial aid. I also recommend going to a community college first because its cheaper and its just basic classes anyway...that doesnt have to be done at a university. Im at a community college in Chicago (and my school has a lot of great professors)and then i plan on going to DePaul university when i'm finished with the cc. You can go to www.ratemyprofessor.com and it shows just about all the professors in schools all over and other students write comments about them and show their ratings for them.

there are grants from the gov and grants/scholarships from private orgs and business's.

heres the info. take your time and pick through. most scholarships require a 1 or 2 page application and essay. fastweb is a good one. you answer questions and submit it. and they get back to you with what they found on their databases that you qualify for. contact them and ask what they require and when the deadlines are.

APPLY FOR ANYTHING you qualify for. take time on your essays, so you stand out and are picked for the awards.

try to aim for grants/scholarships more... they are not to be paid back. its confusing sometimes, but just keep applying.

every big (and small) company you see (manufacturer, orgs, corps and groups also) all have grants and scholarships they hand out like candy. Walmart, Kmart, Target, Coke, computer companies etc etc etc

heres a link with a HUGE amount of some available. some you will need to copy and paste into a new window. also, fastweb (take the time to fill it in) will search databases and get back to you with a list of scholarships you qualify for.

Also contact all mens, womens associations in your state, they almost always have grants & scholarships. What ever field you are going into, contact the orgs, associations etc for them; Also check with professional organizations related to your career interests, such as the American Bar Association or the American Medical Association. they also always have scholarships. Research and dig, call then write. Its all worth it.

OVER apply; it doesnt hurt to have too many, and the extra funds can help with housing.

A lot of corporations want to be seen as "good neighbors" in the community. And they need a way to attract young workers. So some of them grant scholarships, usually from $1,500 to $10,000.

When visiting the websites of these companies, on the home page look for something like: ABOUT US or CORP INFO. Click on that, and then look for something like: COMMUNITY or COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT.

check out:
1. BestBuy (2 scholarships from each store for $1,500 and they enter you at their headquarters for a $10,000 scholarship).

2. Comcast (your high school principal must recommend you for a $1,000 scholarship. They also have paid internship at a limited number of locations nationwide.)

3. Cracker Barrel (www.cbrlgroup.com) for employees, or their children - $1,000

4. Kohls (each store awards $50 and a certificate; then submits their winners to the region. Regional winners receive $1,000 and are submitted to the corporate headquarters. Corporate level winners get a $5,000 scholarship and a $1,000 donation to their favorite charity.)

5. Wal-Mart (www.walmartfoundation.org) Each store awards $1,000 to 2 students at each school in their area. Or if you have been an employee for 12 months, you qualify to apply for a $2,500 scholarship.

6. McDonalds (as Ronald McDonald House Charities at: www.RMHC.ORG) varies by region of the county. But a typical award is $1,000. May be from the corporation or from an association of stores in your area.

Each of these companies have a simple application (1–2 pages) process

I understand what you are going through. Unfortunately, guidance counselors are so important for preparing seniors for college and most are useless at it. Contact the college you plan to go to and they can help, so can your local library.
