Unless you truly believe in what the baptism means, then no. You're simply getting splashed with (or dunked in) water.

Yes. Baptism leaves an indelible mark on the soul. This is the betrothal. The consummation of the marriage is Holy Communion. If your marriage was never consummated, then the consequences are fewer but, the betrothal still counts. There is rapidly coming a time when you will be very glad you have this mark. There is a ceremony for confirmation that confirms that these were your wishes to become baptized. If you do not wish any more indoctrination do not become confirmed. It is that simple.

There is no way you can be coerced into baptism. You either choose to do it or you don't. Fundamentally speaking, you either agree with what it stands for or you don't. In baptism there are no do-overs or undo's. You have to grasp the understanding, and then and there you can make a conscious decision. God wants no souls by means of obligation, free will states you you follow through or not.

Baptism should definitely be out of faith. I was raised Catholic and I got baptised when I was a baby but I think that was stupid because I had no idea what was going on. Now that I have been "born again" I want to get baptized because now I know what it means

Baptizim is really just a showing of sorts that you do believe in Christ and that you are a devoted follower to his teachings and are leaving the past behind. What gets you saved or whatever you want to call it is your heart. If you open your heart to GOd and truely believe in him and his love for you and your sins that is what is important. Getting baptized is the next step so to speak not the important one. Ask your self if you really believe and want to be a christian, not if you were nervous and didnt want to be baptized but were pushed into it.

Can't counting be just as harmfull as coersing?

It sounds like you are counting the performance of baptism, done in a certain way, as an essential part of the faith process.

If something in the past, like being baptised went badly why not just pretend like you are a new believer, forget the past, forgive everyone and move on?

I am thinking about what frame of mind a person was in at that time. If it was one of resentment then I'd say the baptism was a act of following mans instructions and not the Biblical meaning of Baptism thus becoming invalid.

The Bible says to 'believe and be baptized'. Baptism without faith is worthless. Any expression of faith not done sincerely is meaningless. Does it count with who? God? no.

No. There are 4 things you must do before baptism:

1) Hear God's word
2) Believe God's word
3) Repent
4) confess

All these must come from the heart.....and God know eveyone's heart.
If you skiped all these, your baptism was not valid.

No. To be water baptized is an outward expression of your inward faith in God.
