OK - my boyfriend and I have talked about marriage alot, neither of us is ready just yet and all of that is okay we know we will be married someday. Last year for Christmas I bought him a wonderful man's promise ring which he wears on his pinky finger on his right hand as that is where it fits. I offered to get it sized and he told me that it was no big deal he liked it there. OK no big deal to me I could care less and am just happy he liked it and wears it always!!! This past Valentines day, he bought me a gorgeous Ruby ring - YEAH!!!!!! I was so excited, and so I asked, which finger would you like me to wear this on & his reply..."anyone you want" - UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well - I would like to wear it on my ring finger and took it to get sized as such. Presumptuous of me??? I can be saved as the ring finger on my right hand is the same size as my left - SO - should I wear it where I would like to or should I wear it on the right hand as it is a promise, but not an engagement?

on the right hand as a promise ring... you wouldn't want him to think you were trying to make people think you were enganged when you're not... or just flat out ask if he minds if you wear it on your left ring finger... why do most women always assume what to do? I have found it's much easier if you just ask the guy how he really feels... you find out a lot that way as long as you don't over react or get mad if it's not the answer you were hoping for... and if you know you're not ready for marriage then why are you making such a big fuss about wearing it on your left ring finger... if you truly thought you weren't ready it probably wouldn't have even crossed your mind to wear it on that finger anyway

I'm happy to hear that your b/f got you a ring after you had given him on, most guys i know would be scared to death and not know what to think. I'm from a small town in Iowa and everyone here wears their wedding bands/engagment rings on their left ring finger and promise rings go on the right ring finger, this is also how i wore all 3 of my rings. So i Would suggest Right Ring finger.

Wear it on your left ring finger. My fiance for Christmas could not afford to buy me an engagement ring because he was out of work at the time, so he bought me a wedding band and used that to propose. For Valentines Day he bought me a pink sapphire ring surrounded by diamonds. Well he put it on me and he put it on my left ring finger and said I will move this ring to the other finger as soon as I get you a diamond. I say go for it and wear it on your left ring finger, besides it will give other guys the hint.

Well, diamonds are forever like a marriage should be. The ring should be on the other hand not the ring ringer. It's not a promise ring. He defintely sounds scared of marriage. He won't tell you where you should put the ring because he is afraid of getting into a fight. Well, don't pressure him or rush him, sadly to say he is afraid of commitment. I wouldn't rush into marriage unless he is perfect with getting married. I would be careful with him, he might not be the one.

I would wear it where you'd like to, on your left hand. There's where you should wear it, it's a ring from your boyfriend and you've talked about getting married down the road. I see the ruby ring as his promise ring to you! So, yes, wear that on your left hand.

Well either one is fine; since you seem set on the left ring finger, then start out with it that way, but if you feel its making him uncomfortable then switch it to the right ring finger.

traditionally, the ring finger is where you wear the promise ring and engadgment ring.

But you should wear it where you feel comfortable.
Usually when someone wears it on their ring finger, that means the relationship is really serious and is ready for the next level.
