If your girlfriends like that now kick her into touch before your relationship goes any further. My god, she sounds heartless.

Dog anytime. I think it's unreasonable to ask you to get rid of your dog. I wonder if your girlfriend would consider putting down her pet (cat, whatever) if you made it a condition of moving it.
Clearly there's not enough that you two have in common at the moment to consider moving in together .... if you take on someone, then you have to take on their family as well and that includes the pet!
Besides, no-one will ever love you as much, or look at you with such adoring eyes, as your dog. Make the most of it ... there's plenty of girls out there but man's best friend is a rare diamond indeed!

If the dog is ill now and he's not going to get any better then I would suggest taking him to an animal shelter. At least then you would not know whether they found another home for it or put it too sleep. I don't know about you but I would rather my dog die somewhere else, rather than have him die right before my eyes. I think that would hurt more. She probably just doesn't want it to die in your house together. That would be creepy. Let it go for your relationship sake. Only if you know for sure that the dog isn't going to get better.
Good luck

If your dog is sick, then don't make her suffer. If there is nothing left to be done in order to help your dog, then put her down. As for your girlfriend make a compromise. Tell her you will move in with her only if after a while you guys can get a new dog together.

I love my dog so I know where your coming from, but who benefits from the loss of your dog. If the dog is truly ill and in pain then you should do the humane thing and put him/her down but if the dogs just old. Wait to move, who's been in your life longer the dog or the gf?

What a cow! How anyone could ask that of someone they are supposed to love is beyond me! Ditch the girl not the dog. That's my advice. If your dog is not sick and is just old then you would be pointlessly killing an animal. It's disgusting and wrong.

You look after your dog.
She either loves you & the dog or nothing.
When you finally have to put your dog down take her to the vet & cuddle her as she is injected & you will feel a lot better & she will just go to sleep peacefully while you are stroking her.
Take photos of her because you will have so many good memories of her
This is sad but inevitable, dont let her suffer she loves you as much you do her

I can't believe anybody would be so cold and callus unless the dog was in a lot of pain and discomfort. I say keep the dog and put the girlfriend down. She is COLD!

it would appear that your girlfriend is looking for affection than you dog ... and would like you to show her some - if your dog was that seriously ill it would be at the vets - you may me using your dog as an excuse (maybe subconsiously) to avoid close contact with the girlfirend. - if she is receiving affection from you - im sure she wont mind you attending to the dog when necessary - but come on - which is really more fun, your girl of the dog, ... if you answer the dog - then i would definalely not move in...

Choose the dog and don't look back.
If your dog's in too much pain though put her down, you don't want the poor thing to suffer. Of course don't let your beeach of a girlfriend know.

how long has your friend had his dog? and how long has he had his gf ? and is his dog suffering? and is there any hope his dog could get better?
i'd get rid of my partner if they couldn't understand how i felt for my pet and asked me to put it down because thats nothing sort of heartless
i had to put my dog down a couple months ago because he was really sick and dying slowly and painfully it's the hardest thing i ever had to do and i still haven't got over it but if i had to do it again i would it wouldn't have been fair to my dog to let him suffer longer than he already had i'd had him for 12 and a half years
