Currently drive an automatic. Have had several 5 speeds in the past. I prefer the 5 speed.

For years, the manuals were usually more fuel efficient and quicker overall. Ironically as the industry improves and the technology advances, we have automatics now that are more fuel efficient, and quicker (thanks to hydraulics) that their manual counterparts.
You even have some sports cars, which now have "manu-matics" instead of ful manual because they know fuel mileage improves, which helps their companies C.A.F.E. credits, it's easier to install, and requires less maintenence than a manual.
I myself have always had automatics. If the car can do it itself, why would I bother. There's enough traffic around me that it becomes annoying if I had a manual. I do drive manual... a time or 2 on a friends car because they were so drunk they couldn't drive, but it's a bit too archaic for me to be focused on. And if I do get in someones car and it's a manual, they better shift softly, or I'll throw up on them :)

Definitely manual 5 speed. More fun and greater control over the car. Always driven a manual. Tried an auto for a few years and went back to manual. Currently we have 1 auto for my spouse and 1 manual for myself.

it really is exactly what it means. some transmissions have 4 ahead speeds (gears) and some have 5 or perhaps 6 speeds or gears. The extra gears the further appropriate the vehicle will perform because the engine will stay extra in its means zone and not at all ought to develop and reduce rpms that a lot. reliable success

Automatic, explorer.. know how and have driven 5-speeds in the past, but something always wears out in the end on them. It's also more complicated to do anything else (esp. with kids in the backseat) while your shifting gears all the time.

I've always driven a standard, however I'm currently driving a prius hybrid which is drive by wire (fancy automatic). I drive it for the gas mileage, I drive in excess of 30K miles per year.
I don't think I'll ever go back to a standard.

driving a 5 speed manual is more fun and lets connects you to your car and the road better since you have more control not to mention gas mileage an auto is good if your lazy and dont like to shift

Every vehicle I've owned has had a manual transmission, and I have no desire to change that. Shifting gears is just as much a part of driving as braking.

For years I drove a 4 speed and really liked it, until I got an automatic...now I'd never go back; all that shifting...it does help with gas mileage though, but I'm an 'automatic fan' now..........
