Go camping, hiking, on a picinic. Pick up a paper, go online or call the city and find out about local free festivals in your area... Sometimes these kinds of outings seem like mini vacations. There are lots of things to do, just think about activities that your family enjoys. We always tell our kids before that we don't have money to buy "stuff" but we're getting to go do whatever it is that we're doing. The only time we get to go to amuzement parks is when they get free tickets from school for reading but we get to do it and they have a blast. Its not always about the money, just about getting out of the house and spending time together.
Good luck!

Cut expenses that you can do without (i.e. going out to movies, eating out, cable TV, etc.), save your money to the point money isn't tight and then consider a vacation. Seek advice from a financial advisor to help reduce expenses and pay off any debt. Reducing debt is key, do that first and then saving will become easier. Best of luck.

My family and I go camping. If you don't like tents there is always cabins (some have bathrooms and kitchens). There is usually alot of stuff to do around the campsites that is inexpensive. Or another option is to go on hotels.com and find an inexpensive hotel in your area and do things you like to do. You are out of the house with your family and don't have to spend alot of money.
