Yes, actually. smarter people tend towards more logically involved faiths. However, philosophical abstract thinking determines whether or not one will be a theist of any kind or not.

Generally, people without a good IQ will follow a faith that makes very little sense in a practical way, and no sense in a philosophical way.

I think is oposite the religion or culture you been raised in determines your IQ, much budhist are quite smart, jewish, i have no seen i single one with low IQ so they have most of the nobles given and a beatiful country, etc, and, not to ofend, but, most of the poor and miserable people of the globe are catolics, or hindus, or some kind of religion that teach you not to work and to be poor and ignorant and belief what the priest says.

I think it's a contributing factor. It's been proven in numerous studies that those with higher IQs lean towards atheism.

Also, the states in the USA that are considered part of the Bible Belt are also rated at or near the bottom for education. That's not a coincidence, in my opinion.

I believe the way you are raised bears more on your beliefs than your IQ. My IQ is higher than my dad's but we were raised to believe the same thing. I just think more than he does and interpret things differently.

The last study I saw, those with higher IQ's tended towards looser theism, or no theism (atheism) at all. However, atheism tends to be something of common sense, and not all people with high IQ's have a good common sense.

No, it's not based on IQ. Jesus said thank-you father that you have hidden things from the wise and learned and revealed them unto babes.

There has been a great deal of research demonstrating a negative correlation between intelligence and religious belief. But of course there are intelligent theists, just as there are stupid atheists.
