You might be bathing the dog too much. I'm a groomer and know that you shouldn't bathe your dog any more than twice a month. Solutions to the dander are using a seperate conditioner when bathing or buy fish oil capsules for people (they sell them at walmart) and put 1 into your dogs food daily. Fish oil works wonders for dogs dry skin.

First, make sure you're feeding a really good quality food.
Next, do not bath too much - bathing is the major cause of dry skin and coat and it doesn't matter what kind of shampoo you use, you're going to dry out the skin.
Then, give your dog, depending on size, 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil on his food daily. What's even better than that is a salmon oil capsule every day and you'll notice a huge difference within a couple of weeks.

I dont know what kind of dog you have but I suggest that you try baby wipes....... as your petting the dog have the wipes in your hand and just use it all over his body...Dander is dry skin and the oil in the wipes will help put back some moisture on his coat and also it will help against to much shedding of the hair....I have two dogs and use it all the time , specially when they are shedding their winter coat.....and the plus of this is ......they smell good and it gives them much attention from you ...........try it ....... your gonna love it..

Make sure your dog is on a high quality diet. Most store brands are not healthy, and this can have a direct effect on his skin and coat.

They have a spray you can buy. Something like this should work.... http://www.1800petmeds.com/pdetail.asp?SK=1072
also I would suggest bathing your dog with oatmeal shampoo. It's good for the skin and helps keep it from drying out.
